Michiko and Hatchin (new manglobe)

Finally new anime announced from manglobe (Samurai Champloo and Ergo Proxy)

Original Story: manglobe
Director: Sayo Yamamoto
Script: Takashi Ujita
Character Design: Hiroshi Shimizu
Bike Design: Shigeto Koyama
Color Stylist: Izumi Hirose
Art Director: Seiki Tamura
Fashion Design: Mariko Yamano, Shogo Yamazaki
Music Producer: Shinichiro Watanabe
Producer: manglobe, Caliente Latino

Picture of the main characters on the front page

http://www.michikotohatchin.com/

ANN describes it as
Quote:
The title's Michiko is a free-willed "sexy diva" who destroys a supposedly inescapable prison fortress, while Hatchin is a girl fleeing her strict foster parents. The two join forces on an improbable escape to freedom.
Sayo Yamamoto was episode director and storyboarder on both of manglobes previous shows, this is her first time directing, Hiroshi Shimizu, the character designer was behind the entirety of Kemonozume episode 11. Not familar with the script writer at all, seems to have written the live action Freesia. Also, Shigeto Koyama is an awesome mechanical designer, affiliated with Undersell, who worked on Diebuster and Eureka Seven (as well as No More Heroes on Wii)

Sweet I love Manglobe. Watanabe needs to do another anime already though.

Dammit, I saw Sayo Yamamoto as the director and immediately hoped for either Shinji Obara or better yet, Dai Sato as the scriptwriter but no? I don't know who "Takashi Ujita" is either... (perhaps he's a screenwriter for live-action films?) Nevertheless I hope it turns out well, Yamamoto IIRC directed some funky episodes in Samurai Champloo like the baseball one.

If you're looking for Shinichiro Watanabe at least he's the Music Producer, lol. I do like the use of music in his shows very much though, and IIRC the last time he was Music Producer (that is, in Mind Game) we got some damn lovely music (Yoko Kanno for the piano piece, and Seiichi Yamamoto) So hopefully this time we will too.

The plot sounds totally like the subject of a 4C show Anyway I'm really looking forward to this, especially since I kinda liked what I saw from Hiroshi Shimizu in Kemonozume 11.

Are they magician on ANN or something... Because i don't see the synopsis on michiko's HP or on moonphase.

Sayo Yamamoto also directed 3 PV for some japanese reggae thing (only 2 are online) :

Uh, latino? I think they mean latina unless she's actually a he.

Latino(a)/hispanic isn't a race but an ethnic group they can be either white, Indian (Native American), Asian or black, most latino/hispanics are mix though.

Michiko the older girl with the tanish skin color seems to be either a mix of white and Indian or white and black, looks to me their going for that Purito Rican type look White/Black. Though not sure what's up with the name Michiko.

Looks a bit weak for manglobe...

But I guess we'll see how they approach a series with a more traditional anime style.

But, honestly, the initial premise reads like something off of ufotable's menu. And while ufotable is funky, their productions aren't exactly a work of innovative genius I take Watanabe for.

I was wondering about the producer Caliente latino. Does this mean we'll be having Latin music in this anime?

Maybe Reggaetón music? Could fit in this type of series, Shinichiro Watanabe is one of the very few people willing to experiment when it comes to music he puts in anime.

It said nothing about the actual anime except that I think they're trying very hard to be fashionable and Cool and stuff. Which is kinda obvious now but ah whatever... maybe it's an excerpt from the OP?

Official site updated

Wish I knew, but this reminded me to take a peek at http://www.michikotohatchin.com/ , and it's been updated!

The intro Flash has a couple of different background/costume combinations when redisplayed (I only managed to see 3). There's also a character, story, and staff page (which I would love to see translations of, hint hint)

The top pic on the right of the Story page has me laughing. The attention to details in the backgrounds gives me hope that it's going to be something I'll enjoy a lot -- I already like the style that's evident in the characters and the teaser -- so it should be fun.
