There's no excuse they couldn't have included her with the above scenario, they just decided not to. I guess that choice is out of a desire to have absolute accuracy towards the source material where only either-or can exist.

There's plenty of reason. In fact, do you even have a good reason for wanting two MCs other than to please the fans?

Even disregarding the canon for a bit, it doesn't work from a storytelling perspective to have two MCs. There are several parallels made for the P3 Protagonist to be the Messiah for their world. It does not work to have two protagonists.

Then between the male and female one, the male protagonist is obviously more appropriate for many reasons.

This is was likely an easy decision for the studio to make. There just isn't any reason to have the female MC over the male one.

Why does there need to be a reason better than that? Hell that reason alone is why a lot of series' even exist in the first place.

Can't there be two messiahs that are siblings? You're treating it like it's an unbreakable rule to not include an un-canon character who's additional presence won't even affect the plot that severely in the first place with the right workarounds.

Aside from the FeMC being un-canon thanks to "Word of God" and perhaps the questionable relationship with Aigis, there is practically no superiority of having the male character over a female one either. Both characters were blank slates from the start with a backstory that could work with either gender.

To be fair though if I had to choose I'd pick the male too.

In persona 2 multiverses/different timelines were introduced, so technically femMC is not un-canon, its just not part of the universe/timeline that P4 follows.

Porn star name aside...some people explained his name like this :

結城 理 (Makoto Yuki)
結= Tie, knot, connect, link
城= Castle
理= Reason, justice, truth

"Makoto" = "Sincerity,truth,faith"
"Yuki" = "Blessing,snow"

Which sound pretty fitting for the MC.

Haven't played any of the Persona games myself. Only watched the P4 anime adaption and that is it. I was pretty good.

Though this P3 movie looks hundreds of times better.

Persona 3 has, at least imho, a slightly better plot than Persona 4 even if the latter is the much better game. They're both fantastic JRPG though and I can't wait to watch this movie.
