Persona 4 Golden
Atlus’ new Persona project teased for this week’s Persona Hour stream is a new anime based on PS Vita’s Persona 4 Golden.
Persona 4 The Golden Animation will begin broadcasting this July in Japan. It’s being produced by A1-Pictures. the official website (http://www.p4ga.jp/) outlines the story: Spring. A rural town, far removed from the city, that spends its time peacefully. A boy arrives at Yaso Inaba Station, where the cherry blossom petals are falling. His name is Yū Narukami. Due to his family's situation, he moves to Inaba to live with his uncle, and attends Yasogami High School. From there, his school life begins: The shopping mall after school. The serial murders happening in the town. The Midnight Channel that comes on late at night... What days are waiting for Yū and his friends "this time"? The anime will premiere this July during the Animeism programming block on MBS, TBS, and their affiliates. Before directing this new anime series, Tomohisa Taguchi worked on the opening and the important parts of specific episodes in the first Persona 4 The Animation series. Those episodes include the final episode, the main characters' time at the open-air school in episode 8, and their summer vacation in episode 14. The first anime's Seiji Kishi will serve as chief director of the new anime. Shoji Meguro is returning from the game series and the first anime to compose the music of the new series alongside Tetsuya Kobayashi, a collaborator of his since Persona 3 the Movie #2 Midsummer Knight's Dream. Series script supervisor Jun Kumagai worked on the scenario of every episode of the first series. Character designer Yuu Shindou worked as a key animator on episodes of the first series. The new anime reunites the cast from the game and first television anime, including Daisuke Namikawa as the main character Yū Narukami. Joining the cast is Kana Hanazawa, who will reprise her role from the Persona 4 Golden PS Vita game.

Ok this is just going to be pure fun. We're going all New Game + on this one .
And certainly interesting getting my first chance to hear Marie's voice on the japanese side. Definitely a good bit of casting there . Nice first impressions of her sprinkled throughout the episode. Definitely curious to see things unfold. And damn, that Izangi slaughter was great. You can tell how much Yu maxed out his stats the first time around .

Enjoying Snack Time!

Just finished the first episode and it was a great and interesting start to a great series based off its original source material. The Narukami in this version is more confident and more laid back in this one, while in the old one he was more like going with the flow. The scene where he messed around with King Moron was priceless as hell. Got to give the dude props where it's due.
The introductions to Izanagi was freaking beast. The moment he got summoned and Time to Make History was playing, I whipped out my air guitar and started to sing along the song. I think I replayed that whole scene like 4-5 times. As much as I liked the battle scene with Time to Make History playing in the background, I just had to say "Yo! Where's the golf club or a sword"? None the less, Marie was exactly as I expected her to be. I really enjoyed her in Golden and her scenes and dialouge were on point. Kana Hanazawa never fails to disappoint in the roles she plays, she's my favourite seiyuu for nothing after all. I'd have to give the first episode an 8/10. The complaints for this episode were that they skipped some important events from April 11th to the 14th were left out. I don't know if this is intentional, but I wonder if this adaptation will focus more on the Social Link aspect than the actually mystery itself like its predecessor? I might do a changes from the game to the anime log in a little while, but for now I need to give my fingers a break. So all and all good start and I can't wait to see what episode 2 has in store. On that note: Quote:

New Game+ it up.
It was humorous how Yuu just shoved Yosuke and Chie aside to try to get to Marie. It was like, "Move bitches, new social link I need to conquer!" Also, looks like it won't be rehashing much if we've already got Kanji in the next episode. That's fine with me. |

Definitely a "New Game+" series. Narukami got it right by not backing down during Morokin, for the +1 courage. Even nailed it right off the first episode with ">ハイカラだな".
Originally I thought it might just be a re-hash + extra scenes, but it seems like they are might be approaching this differently this time. After all, preview for ep2 has Kanji already. I'm looking forward to this more than before.
