And yeah, all the volumes are continuing the dark fantasy theme.

Yeah, the raws showed up for v5 and v6, the pictures are quite nice, but those of us who can't read Japanese will have to wait patiently for Krytyk to translate them.

regarding Ikaruga, so she's the platoon's armorer as well as the very first(?!) woman in Takeru's run-ins but I dont think she makes melee oriented items aside from getting stuff like shields.

Volume 5 was really interesting, the development in that one brought upon a nice impact. Oh man! and Takeru was just awesome, personally thought the armor was done nicely don't think a bulky one would suit him.

Maybe it's just me but I can't seem to find any illustrations of volumes 5 and 6 on BT. Can someone tell me how? If possible, can someone give a small spoiler/summary of volume 5 or 6? (In spoiler tags please, I don't want to ruin it for other people if possible)

Well, that's about as much as I'm willing to tease, don't want to reveal any plot.

Also, the lack of illustrations on BT is intended, I upload illustrations one volume ahead as not to spoil story too much. Though I will be considering uploading them all at once later based on what people want.

So, is Takeru's apartment supposed to be haunted? I got confused. He said that ghosts don't manifest themselves unless evocation magic is used, but Ouka said she saw a woman with long hair emerging from the water.

That's what I understood as well, maybe he meant that the ghosts can't enter a state where physical harm s possible.

I just read this novel last year and suddenly got an anime? What a year indeed.

I had a feeling that the anime might be aired on fall season along with Shinmai Maou and Madan(I'm not sure it will be aired along with Blade Dance)

But a lot happens, as far as Imouto-san is concerned... she appears to be okay, volume 6 man with sword is Takeru's swordsmanship master (the one that was referred to as "former" human and "monster").
