Surprised we’ve gotten no announcement on a new Kitarou. The clock has to be ticking on that one.

Either Miyuki Sawashiro keep doing Kitaro (not sure how) or they're waiting until last minutes to announce the change, probably in october?

Perhaps both Kitaro and One Piece has really a lot of episodes recorded already?

I wonder if they could have "front-loaded" her studio time, pre-recording a lot of her stuff knowing she'd be going on leave soon. Don't know how technically feasible that is.

Most shows use the cheaper voice-after approach where the seiyuu sync their performances to the on-screen material. Recording the voices first and matching the animation to the performances is harder and more expensive.

On the other hand, Kitarou doesn't look like a show that is starved for production resources.

Another great ep, totally in tune with the history of the mythology.

Good episode, and I liked the use of the "grandfather's clock" song too.

Cast for the new arc has been announced:
https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/new...ai-arc/.136411

And here I wondered, when Takeshi Kusao was going to make an appearance here.
Now, where’s Eiji Takemoto and Juurouta Kosugi?

Also, Hideyuki Tanaka as an arc’s Big Bad is going to be great.

It was the lead of the two shows in the 9-10 Sunday block, too. The audience actually fell after Kitarou.

Apparently. There wasn't a new One Piece episode either.

You know, if I were a young voice actor and heard Banjo Ginga doing that chanting next to me, I probably wouldn’t be able to sleep at night.

Anyway, this episode was one of the darkest ones in the show, and that is quite... something. I’m actually surprised they even managed to air it in this timeslot, considering we had minors almost hanging themselves here.

Banjou Ginga is freaky good here - scary as hell.

Poor, sweet Mana - what has she done to deserve being entangled with such evil? And yes, it's rather shocking to see images like this on a Sunday morning anime - if any subject is a third rail in Japan, it would be suicide (especially among teens).

Are they trying to discourage kids from staring at their phones all day by scaring the shit out of them?

Perhaps Nanashi himself is an oni born from suicide. That would help explain why Kitarou and Daddy know so little about him.

I think they are trying to discourage people from installing suspicious apps into their phones, sometimes they stole your passwords, your credit card info luring you with some eye candy or ridiculous promises.

My bet is that the present nanashi is nothing but the aura ball left when the original yokai was defeated but it is so powerful that it can still weakly interact with the physical world and it is looking for a vessel to be reborn. So the end season fight has been set, nanashi needs to tap Mana three more times.
