Thank you, Kyoani. Two new movies with new story are totally unexpected.

Now, the long wait continue.

Did we need this? No. No we did not.

Am I totally going to be counting down the days until I can see these sequels? Absolutely.

oh my fuckin god, so much Eupho love. Would've been 11/10 if one of those movies was an Asuka-standalone movie.

I'm actually almost only interested in Kumiko's movie. I still find her to be a rather fascinating character.

It's been announced that the author will write a a 2 part sequel to the novel, with Kumiko in her 2nd year. Besides the movie I think a 3rd season is now a possibility.

Probably only interested in the last movie and possible sequel hook. Honestly, not sure why they'd waste an entire movie on Mizore and Noizomi but whatever. Their part of season 2 was such a waste of space; why do we need more of that?

I thought people said that the NozoMizore arc wasn't as polished as expected.

Problem: Nozomi and Mizore characters were not developed enough for some people to care about their story

Solution: Make movie to explore more on Nozomi and Mizore character and lay some plot for the second movie.

It is possible that Nozomi and Mizore movie is also the sequel of S2 anime. There is a gap of time between the third year graduation and new school year (or it may take place in new school year) and even you don't like Nozomi and Mizore, you can bet that other characters who related to them like Yuuko, Natsuki and Kumiko will have important role in that movie.

Two Hibike Euphonium sequel novels will also come out this year in case anyone missed the news. Yes, the novel author decides to continue the story.

Wish we could have gotten a third season instead, but I'll take whatever I can get.

That is why I don't really care for more elucidation. A lack of intrigue.

In all fairness they did their part from a literary point of view, and it is done with. Expanding on something like that doesn't make sense to me though it will build on the lower half of the cast.

Personally though I have gotten all the closure I need. This is one of a few shows I can say that it feels complete and needs no further change. I have had too many bad experiences with shows outstaying their welcome but we will see.

I'm looking forward to Naoko Yamada's movie since it will mostly likely be a drama movie.

She followed up on her tweet early this year when she said she wanted to repay her fans affection by writing a continuation with Kumiko in her 2nd and 3rd years.

I am excited for the 3rd movie the most. I think Mizore and Nozomi were my least favourite characters in the TV series. I like them, but I never found them interesting enough to be emotionally attached to like I did for the rest of the cast. But I will still eagerly wait for the 2nd movie (the first of the two new movies) since it's Hibike! Euphonium after all.

I'm definitely interested in the second-year movie for story/continuation reasons and I do love the main cast, but man, that Nozomi/Mizore movie sounds amazing! Their arc was one of my favourite parts of the show, and I especially love Nozomi; Natuski and Yuuko are likely to feature prominently too, and that quartet is so much fun. I'm extremely excited!

For the September 2017 release mentioned above, but I'm assuming this trailer goes in here too?

From ANN: "Sound! Euphonium: Todoketai Melody Film's Trailer, Visual Revealed" ... and based on the Official site I wonder if these are indications who the focus will be...

Well, that's the compilation movie, not the new stuff. It covers the Asuka arc.
