Inderd it often is. I am glad we came to agreement.

Pretty lame to just go along with this.

Hiro is clearly an M

Jokes aside, the game is probably gonna abuse him to the point where his real life issues will pale in comparison and that will click a switch in him to become a badass. It's weird, but that's how anime goes

I don't know, I can see her keeping the part of the bargain and go with it in the end. She seem pretty serious about this game and there is all the way to be with him while he complete the game to fall in love with him.

Well, she tried the soft touch and he lashed out at her. It doesn't seem like that much of his attitude has changed since then which might be part of why she acts like that towards him.

We've only seen him lash out at her once unprovoked, yet we've seen her lash out at him multiple times while he's just minding his own business. She's a being a brat and it's annoying.

He'd be better off if she did give up on him instead of this passive aggressive nonsense.

That was barely lashing out at all.

Even if you can't reset by a gameover (which would be strange, as that politician guy managed to get all major routes.), you can still wipe the hard drive as progress is saved on the console.

Given that the game is 10 years old, any warranty for it's original console would have already expired anyway, so even if you can't manually delete files, like on a computer, you can still just wipe it using an electro magnet.

You can see that she isn't telling the whole truth there too, when she tries to sell him a console for 30'000 more than the alleged market price.

It would be only better only for her. Especially because she never said anything that wasn't true and he knows it.

I get the sense he's still kind of depressed and just uncaring and unwilling to change himself, which seems to be the source of why she still acts that way around him.

It would definitely be better for him too. What she's doing isn't helping him.

The only thing he told her was to leave him alone and that he wasn't going to try again. That's all. Yes, he didn't humour her attempts to cheer him up, but that's all.

Even if it's not getting through to him I feel like her intentions at least come from a better place than, say, Reona even if it comes off harsher.

I mean, he didn't need to humor her, but just acknowledge that she was trying to help and support him when he was feeling down, and even if he wanted to be alone he didn't need to be as harsh about it towards her when she wasn't judging him for what happened.

Her being obsessed with the game was what I initially thought, but in this episode she let it slip she also thinks it's a shitty game, so it's less about the game and more about the people being able to beat it.

Is it? (I skipped a lot of the episode.)
It's an MMO, and progress on those is generally saved on the servers. In this case, they just decided (and were able to) link the account with the physical console.

You can brick your console. It's not a better solution than just buying another one.

And playing it so she doesn't have to. She's basically a free spectator to Hiro making a fool of himself, although at least she defended him against Alicia.

It's rilling him up, which is sign it's getting trough. As long as he get angry about being looser he might still do something about it. Doing nothing in other hand change nothing and it's not like Hiro can sink any lower even if he get dissed.

They said it's saved on the console, not the Server.

As for the second part.:

If you are out of warranty with a, if you had it new when the game came out, 10 year old console, it's the better solution. Especially since a new one it costs 90'000 yen.

Ther eis also factory resetting, so Renoa's bill doesn't really work. But as said, she is most likely BSing him.

I doubt Reona is bullshitting him. If there was a relatively easy way to start over, there wouldn't be only one person in the entire country (I don't remember if it got a global release) who completed the game. Not to mention Ginji wouldn't have chosen to remain stuck in jail for ten years.

We have no clue how their systems work, and it's probably not something the author has put a lot of thought into. It's one of those things we're supposed to roll with.

This guy is a pushover. No way would I let her manipulate me like that. i'd question the sanity of a chick that wants to marry a guy who beat a game. I'd also push back on the secrecy. If she doesn't wanna come clean about why she wants this so bad, yet another reason I'd pick another game. I'd rather be out the investment than have to deal with playing anymore of a shitty game. If anything, after she tells me not to go somewhere else the sadist in me would probably open the box, pull out the disc and crack it right in front of her. Drop it in her trash can and say "ok, then this should suffice" and leave heh.

Also thought about an oddity of the game; he logs back in and both he and the NPCs are exactly where they were when he quit. Considering this is not a single player game, that doesn't make sense unless the prison is instanced. For a game that is purportedly about max realism there is no way it should be.

Jesus, the dude just lost an important race and pissed himself in front of everyone. Yea, he was harsh, but I think it's safe to say he was not in a good place emotionally and should be given some slack.

I think I understand the logic that Reona is trying to go for here. The premise of the game is that your real life self is what is shown in the game. If you are athletic, and you will be so in the game as well. In that regards, whatever achievements you achieve in the game, it will also be reflected in your real life. You make yourself fit and athletic for the game, but that in turn means that you have a fit and athletic body in real life.

You make smart decisions and strategy in the game to maneuver around its many pitfalls, then you can also make sound decisions in reality. The only guy to ever pass the game ended up as an influential politician. He was such a horrible guy in high school, but became a political figure after all that.

Hence, if you can pass the game, then you yourself have turned into quite a human being by the end. Hence, Reona thinking he might be a great catch by the end of it all is possibly why she said she would marry him. Be successful in the game, and you can be successful in life.
