Is there even a battalion that actually use sword & board during WW2? Carrying a shield thats able to block shots must be already heavy enough. They must either be carry a side-arm or lugging the shield around only.

Aside from the special valkyria powers... they will still fire shots from their lances rather than going up close and slash or thrust rather aside from cutscenes.
I don't know about shields, but every infantryman used to come equipped with a musket and a saber. In VC they use freakin' broadswords on top of heavy full-cover shields, so...no :P

I like pretty much everything I see there.

Hmmm, mostly confirming on the tactical layer. Still waiting to see how they are handling weapon and class upgrades. Especially on the specializations.

I don't remember but did we ever had
a) Air/Artillery strikes
b) LMG gunner
c) Flamethrower
in the game before? Can't seem to remember if that world ever had planes since most of the game is so ground based.

Also hoping we get the APC functionality back.

Yes, flamethrowers were tank/APC add-ons, as well as the commando's special weapon - it deals full damage even behind cover, highly anti-personnel. Artillery strikes cost 4CP and take 1 round to resolve, but destroy everything in their path, they were also tank add-ons, albeit heavy. Heavy gunners supposedly carry gatlings, but they're really MGs, 50 bullets per round, horizontal spray (super stupid) but excellent cover fire. This is all from VCII.

Also, IIRC Isara, Welkin's sister, created the very first airplane, which was named after her. I don't remember if this was in I or II.

1. We got Artillery Strikes in VC1 courtesy of the Orders system.
2. While we didn't have a dedicated LMG trooper in VC1, you were able to get the Ruhm LMG for use in the campaign when you complete Selvaria's DLC missions. You can then equip the Ruhm on any Shock Trooper for maximum firepower.
3. Yes, we did have Flamethrowers in the game before, it was an auxiliary weapon attachment you can give to Shock Troopers, and is hilariously useful against enemies hiding in the grass.
4. Aircraft are in their infancy at the time of VC1, and Isara and the rest of Squad 7's vehicle maintenance teams made Gallia's first airplane, which was no more advanced than the Wright Brother's first plane was.

I assume VC4 is still in the same time period so that might rule out having military aircrafts
Granted calling in arty strike fits the same game play pigeon hole but i still love me some anime pilot girls in my videogame

I would love it if they can build up more on the battle strategy layers of the game like giving off field supports such as artillery, field hospital, logistic and etc player controls and customization. Even if they just cram it into your tank addon customization would be nice (which i assume it's going down the same path of having just a single tank in the unit).

It's been long confirmed that yes, VC4 takes place in the same time period as VC1, and in fact the events of this game are concurrent with the latter game, so no aircraft going in. Hell AFAIK Valkyria Chronicles 2, which takes place 2 years after VC1, didn't have fixed wing aircraft either, instead having just airships.

I loved seeing the enemy's HP just drop like a stone when you were in the right situation.

Named RAGNAROK no less. Guess it was too easy to call him "Cerberus" considering we already have a wolf named "Fenrir" in the game.

Also, Hayamin ( ) is voicing another redhead it seems, I do approve.

Can't wait until we start seeing more about other squad members.

Freesia York was always my favorite squad member. I used her for just about every mission where I needed more than just Alicia as a scout.

Ragnarok may be the deepest character in the game so far.

There's an official Valkyria Chronicles stream up, now streaming Valkyria Chronicles 4:

YouTube
Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?

Edit: Did I just see that right, the game is releasing March 21 in Japan?!?!

Edit2:

Gameplay features video:

From the stream, the land battleship we have is called the Centurion.

Also, some notes from gameplay:
- The tank you have only consumes 1 CP.
- Grenadiers are capable of using their mortars for reaction fire.
- Grenadiers can also sight much higher than other soldiers to shoot over obstacles when aiming.
