Looking forward to this series. Have not even played P5 but played the other Persona titles. Now this protagonist is different from the rest at the start, committing a crime and being taken in for it.

visual is good. but the thing is it all too haste. you can feel even the dialogs are spoken too fast. feel unnatural. no still/slow moment to transit/build up from event to event. it just like they cut every second that didnt have dialog out. like.....

but the decision is understandable since cut point at ending of 1st EP it should be joker awakening scene. so they decide to rush up and cut as much as possible to squeeze every thing into 24mins air time. which is sadly.... unless you are UFO table. you not gonna get extra air time on first EP.

As a new viewer I have to ask: Am I supposed to know what the hell is going on and why? The plot was kinda all over the place.

Also I'm assuming this is a side effect of it being a game adaptation but I felt the main character had no personality despite having such an interesting background. Feels like there's some lost potential there. I guess it doesn't help that he only had like 3 lines of dialogue throughout the entire episode. He doesn't have to be talkative though: I just wish he wasn't so expressionless (when normal).

It's in media res, namely it starts a later part and you live up to that point via flashback.

I liked the episode, but the content of the plot is too meanspirited. Joker does not appear to have committed a serious crime but everybody treats him like he murdered the Prime Minister. Even the old man Sojiro calls him out. At least Joker doesn't feel like his action was wrong which produced the Persona awakening apparently. Still, I have no idea how the awakening happened since he never made a contract unlike previous MCs

First opening minutes introduced Ren and I actually find his personality rather intriguing so far. The overall setting had a Persona feel (I've seen some of the previous Persona series before). What did impress me so far its the technical quality (especially the music) and also the way the show giving a very mysterious vibe. Not too many characters were introduced so far but I think that's fine. It's a 2 cour show so they got plenty of time. The train scene was pretty thrilling imo and I'm hoping the show has more of those thrilling segments. __________________
