To be a Broken Phantasm, it had to be a Noble Phantasm (or a projected one, at least) first. It wasn't Hrunting (that's only in Hollow/Ataraxia); it was Kaladbolg II (the II implying that he reinforcement-modified it into a more aerodynamic shape before firing it).

Even though he does use Caladbolg II on Berserker in the VN, the one in the movie looks completely different... Rather, he uses a weapon that looks like Caladbolg II against Caster.

I think they did that because they used the one from the VN in the TV series.

the story in UBW movie moves in fast-forward speed, if i did not watch the TV series before there is no way i would understand what are the chars doing at all

however the fight scenes are done well, and Shirou is more decisive compared to the TV

overall this one feels like a compilation of fight scenes instead of a real movie with story

oh the final scene with Archer changing face is a bit too funny... is that in the VN too?

Yep. Archer puts on the same face for Rin as he fades away. He finally looks like himself.

I think he looks a lot different in the anime. I found him to be more immature than in the VN CG.

Yeah, that is probably it. The large eyes make him look more childish and innocent...he is neither.

I don't remember where I read it, so don't cite me without thinking it through, but I'm pretty sure Emiya became a counter-guardian after he was executed for saving about 90 or so people. Something to do with a train, he killed 10 or so people in order to save the rest, and one of those he saved was the one who petitioned for his death. Emiya didn't fight it, and was executed.

I'm pretty sure he was executed for being blamed with starting a war he didn't start. That's what I recall from the UBW VN.

Yeah, it's a combination of the two. He made the deal to became a Counter Guardian in order to save 100-odd people (not by killing 10, though, because the whole point of making the deal was that he could save everyone), and then one of the people he saved set him up as a scapegoat for starting a war and had him executed as a war criminal.

If only this was a TV series, or at least an OVA, then they could have gone through all of this stuff properly.

Which was the point of the scene, seeing as it was supposed to signify how Archer finally accepted who he was.

Anyway if you read the VN closely enough you'll notice that it's heavily hinted that Shirou does the exact same smile to Rin after Berserker's death, after Rin has an argument with Shirou stating how Shirou's path and ideal are distorted, which Shirou agrees with but he replies "even if his view his distorted a life dedicated to helping other people cannot be wrong" and then makes the most sincere and gentle smile he possible can. Said smile renders Rin powerless and she blushes heavily. It's pretty much when Rin accepts Shirou for who he is.

Hence why it said in the narrative of Archer's goodbye, that "his smile was that of the boys" which is why Rin said to herself that she no longer has time to be unhappy as that smile was Rin's weakness and was Shirou's/Archer's way of saying everything will be all right.

A boy's smile and a boy's face are different. They could have gave Archer a happy, "Shirou" smile without making him look like a kid. That's my opinion, at least.

Meh didn't really think it was needed it considering the film is based on the novel, surely someone who wants to read the VN after the film wouldn't mind spoilers... and it's a good insight the film left out. It's not like I'm talking about HF.

Umm that's not what I was implying, I was just saying that anyone that has already seen the movie and plans on reading the VN wouldn't really mind spoilers, considering the film spoilers the entire plot of UBW anyway.
