I don't know if others would agree but Kyonko needs to look a bit more petite.

That Kyonko looks a bit too much like Kyon (male!) doing a particularly good job pretending to be female.

I can kind of see now why Kyonko was made short...

Excuse me, it seems that the cat came up for discussion again here. I thought that discussion was concluded earlier with the accord deciding to make Shamisen (f) be this:

LENTIGO

Type: cosmetic, presumed sex-linked
Breeds: any, ginger/cream male cats

Skin defect causing hyper-pigmented (dark) spots up to 1 mm diameter. Has only been observed in red/cream males and is presumed to be sex-linked. Benign.

Sauce

We now return to your regularly scheduled entertainment program

return hand to their usual untyping positions used while viewing this thread.

Why would genderbent / female Shamisen still be male, yet change his breed?

"Calico" isn't a breed. It's a fur coloration that requires two X chromosomes, hence why Shamisen is unusual.

Okay, but that still doesn't change the fact that, as per above, it'd still be a male cat and the only change would be how it looks. What's the point of changing him?

The idea is for it to be a female cat with the condition otai described.

The problem is that it's not actually that uncommon in female cats, despite otai's link. Calicos can get it, for example.

Our best bet is still an orange tabby, if you ask me. Not as rare as male calicos, but still relatively uncommon.

No, I really think we need it to be rare.

Otherwise, Koizumi (F) wouldn't be as suprised at it as the original was in the novels.

Maybe we need to think outside the box on this and think of sometihing beyond mere coloration...

Actually, I'm pretty sure that was one of the several things KyoAni altered in Sigh.

Space Giant Yuki would be hilarious in Disappearance. I'm surprised there aren't many fanart of such scenarios.

Cheers.
