Actually the volume 4 of the webnovel is the volume 5 of the light novel (with the exception of the appearance of the female scientist).

So Kaede's a 'nanodesu' type of character. Figures but that was lost in translation so it couldn't be helped. Did Souma introduce tokusatsu in there? And maybe a kid show with Juna probably the host since she's dressed up like that along with Little Musashibo mascot.
They made a big cargo ship. And is that Excel in the last illustration? Maybe Excel-sensei is giving a lecture on marine warfare, so that means along with the ship, there's some action in the seas, probably concerning the Nine Head Dragon Archipelago. And Kaede and Hal are defending that ship.
And finally, they did the deed. Given how Liscia wanted it so bad in vol4, they finally did it. Marx can rest easy now. And maybe Aisha and the rest can also get some.

Would be interesting if Empress joined the harem; more than wanting to unify with Friedonia, it seems she's just under pressure to find a partner to continue her bloodline

She did jokingly proposition Souma but he rejected saying taking care of his country is hard enough, what more a whole empire.

Well, with both Empress and Souma are wed and handling the affairs together. I think it will be a big uproar since Souma's harem could be also having more hard times due to pile of work. Knowing both are realist, it will fit them well.

The only way Maria could join is if the Empire territories does separate and declare independence from them. However her popularity is still rocket high, I'm not sure it's even possible to begin with.

I assume the twin-tailed girl is the saint. So they cut the 1 WN chapter into 2 LN chapters. Probably adding some new content as well.

If they did get together they'd need a bigger work room since the bedroom part of it would need to get bigger as well. Also, is the empire even bordering Friedonia? If they're a fair distance away then they'd need to work something out.

She is from Lunaria, messenger if I remember well that part. I just skimmed through some parts. Vol 5 ends with how they will leave visit the country of Dragons.
