I tried to read this since it was collecting dust in my bookmark, well, it's okay-ish. I haven't read it until the latest arc of course.

While the plot is actually not that bad, there's a lot of repetitive sentences & infodump, and the mc is kind of bland, a bit pushover, plus a bit retarded too.

I actually had all those same problems with this series way back. Particularly the not checking the item box one. Though I think it's insinuated he completely checks it at some later point because he clearly knows what's in there but the reader never gets to find out until it's convenient.

My biggest issue has always been how he makes shit use of the knowledge he was given or his mana and never properly tries to learn magic. He's a really shitty excuse for a magician but I've more or less given up on him ever going anywhere as one, he's just a scythe weilding warrior.

I'm a couple of arcs behind on this now as well... I wonder if anything interesting happened yet.

Yeah, honestly if I were him I'd hunt some monster's magic stone instead. He could handle up to B-class monster solo, and A-class too together with Set. Since using skill basically no-cast while magic have to cast, it's far usable if he want to play warrior. But nope, he won't do that .. unless someone ask him, oddly.

I'm still at the go to Empire arc, not even half of the current content yet. However, I probably won't rush it to the latest arc anyway.

^^Does the author repetitive pattern disappear at the later part? The part where there's always some new guy in town that looked down on him since he is physically small or try to talk to girl that is accompanying him, and always needs to be explained by his surrounding about who the mc is. Not to mention other repetitive infodump. Seriously it's pretty annoying.

Also, does the mc get "smarter" later on? In regard to the spoiler tag part that I posted above.

Yep the atmosphere resembles it quite a bit. The protagonist has a similar philosophy of crushing whoever makes an enemy of him.

For the first, I'm not really sure since it didn't bother me that much. It seemed reasonable enough given that he frequently leaves the town for months or more at a time. It actually kinda felt like he only returned to the place when the story is taking a break and in a lull for the most part half of the time since most arcs take place outside.

For the second...

I think a few points that needs to be noted is that it was stated from the start that he didn't really have much talent for anything but fire magic and he used fire magic fine from the very beginning so the author didn't really go much further with that (until later spoilers). It's pointed out sometimes that supposedly he's some super genius that figures out how to use everything by sense.

The author does indeed have a habit of reserving absorption of stones until the story reached a delimitation which is sometimes reasonable and sometimes bothering. I get the impression the author just doesn't want to stop and interrupt the story for skill raising every time he encounters a new monster.

And yeah, I'm not sure why either but he's not that proactive on trying to find new stones. It's one of his interests but eh, the story gives a feel that he's doing it as a sort of hobby rather than seriously searching out every single monster in existence.

Also he really doesn't care about money period. I don't think that part is too surprising since money is trivial for his standpoint.

Well, I personally find it kinda annoying, the repetitive pattern. I tend to skip it.

Hmm, the author explanation of "magic" itself is scarce. The fact that there are few people that could use magic in that world could be one of the factor. However, the mc has the same affinity with Zepair that summoned him, not to mention the mc also inherit his knowledge and have much more mana than him. Despite all that, the mc have very little to do with his fire magic and we don't even know how good Zepair is in using said magic, other than he basically a legend. Seriously, it's super weird that he didn't even trying to train, at all.

Yeah, the author delaying absorption is kinda awkward too .. I mean, I know it's of utmost secrecy, but you basically just need to slash or feed Set with it. It doesn't even take a minute. Is there always someone sticking to his butt or what?

Yeah, the magic stone ... it's the weirdest of all. Especially if you're a gamer, you'll want to either raise the level as soon as possible or having a lot of skills .. added with the fact that there are supposedly a lot of dangerous monsters in that world. But nope ..

It's not about the money .. it's his attitude. Granted he might not want to have anything to do with slavery due to his past life, but saying "I only need this" and also gave the other stuff (other than the slave-to be) to other people that lives he saved and even also ends up escorting them at times, wtf?

From what I understand magic is the standard fantasy setting where you mutter some yadayada incantation and fire. It's supposedly extremely difficult to use magic as the protagonist does (and his magic has absurd power compared to normal mages).

The affinity thing is exactly why he has his griffin isn't it? I don't recall it being mentioned that the affinity is good for anything else. Though I agree that the author wasn't too clear on it, overall it seems as if the idea is that the protagonist mastered his fire magic from the getgo so there wasn't any training to do. Its been pointed at several points that his affinity for other elements is miserable so we won't see him using anything else.

As I said earlier though, the Empire arc did provide the turning point where the protagonist finally hit a wall and began seriously trying to become stronger so he does train after that.

What's wrong with his attitude though? He more or less never laid weight in money from the start of the series so his judgments tend to be based purely on his own convenience and whims.

Yeah, I'm in the empire arc now. Well, it's good if he actually end up training since it's not only there are adventurers stronger than him, there's also S-class monsters.

I'm not really sure how to explain it, but he's "kind" to the weird extent. I don't think other works supposedly "kind" mcs goes that far.

Pretty much what ^^ said which is why I said his acts of "kindness" more or less are out of his whims and convenience. Sometimes he helps people because it aligns with his purpose and sometimes he just doesn't care.

It's hard to describe but my general impression of the protagonist is pretty laid back and indifferent to most things as long as it doesn't involve his interests or people getting in his way (enemies). If I recall correctly he handled his transmigration pretty calmly as well.

Well since it hasn't happened yet, and REI is likely to think of it as trouble some and avoid it if all possible. I'd guess at least another year in the raws. There is going to have to be a plot reason for Rei to suddenly want it. I say that, but I'm still about 70 raw chapters behind since I read it in waves.

My god What is this? So the author is so detailed in his explanation when he's describing the taste of the every single food that ray and set eaten and will lend 1 or give 2 chapters how to develop the japanese cooking in this world which I dont know if its relevant to the story but only give shallow and half chapters when it comes to relationship progress between the heroines and the mc . Wow how brilliant .. its still early to judge since im only at 400+ chapters but I just cant help it ..

Is there is any progress in this part in the future chapters? I know that the story is not about romance but still, if he can give some detailed explanation about every single food then i hope that he can at least put some effort on that part too

Im Currently at chapter 1900 and it about time to dismatle that giganto turtle that killed by rei and the others(well its rei and set combo who mainly manage to deal fatal damage to it)

While relaxing with his party while watching the other guild member dismantling the turtle there some disturbances about cobolt and investigate it

Im current ark is winter to spring, i like previous ark to anessis

-rei was invited to the duke household and spend new year with them, the duke and the especially the duchess had taken a liking in rei, then the duke request a pratice battle with the knights, some adventures and even the knight commader (he beat them splendidly)

-He talk with the duke about just make another child with his wife, cuz inheriting the position elena is not doing it forever and eventually retire and join rei in his adventure (elena had obtain eternal youth because of the ancient dragon, marina is a dark elf, vihera also obtain youth from absorbing S class silver lion manastone and a nuclues, and rei is an artificial human and a walking mana)

-Rei got acquitted with the duke's chef and they try making ramen

-He then attend a banquet and of course wear a casual cloths, he didn't hid his face and some guest shock for seeing him (a petite and beautiful face) they cant believe this person is the crimson the one who burn 30% vestria's army. He dance with elena and he good with it then get applaud by the guest and some noble girls invite him for a dance too.

-He was targeted by a assasin black wolf and it actually a reicarnator, rei known it after killing him and buried him in some mountains

-The duke kerevel had another request from Rei and to display his annihilation spell the fire whirwind, when going to decline the request he eventually nod to it because of the rewards barrels of some fire and wind ores(the spell kinda upgraded cuz of set tornado lvl and rei scythe skill wind hand. He add some wind ore so the fire whirlwind blasting wind blades in all directions), all people in Anessis had the view of the event some nobles join in watching it and feel dreadful and scared what happen if you make rei angry, the duke smile amazingly from looking to it.

Cause with the 3 heroines in the harem, I thought she would explode with jealousy and try to make a move on Rei.

Spoiler for .: Mc has the potential to be stronger due to his massive magic amount, a scythe and a gryphon that could gain skill from a magic stone, and bunch of items in his item box. However, he basically does nothing to any of those mentioned. He didn't train his damn magic, didn't bother to search a magic stone if it's not asked, and never ever try to check out his damn item box. Even after the supposedly resolution of him to get stronger at the end of the labyrinth with Elena's arc. Wtf author? . If the author want to make it more interesting by having a less OP mc, at least do it in a way that make sense. At least the restriction on the magic stone skill acquisition a bit make sense, despite it's not really clear what the heck is the criteria of the restriction in the first place. He also does a lot of questionable thing like not taking the items/money that he got from monster/bandit because "he didn't have any problem with money" and gave it to other despite he did all the work, wtf? Not to mention the usual "I don't want to stand out more" shit, dude cast a huge damn flame tornado in a war killing a lot of people, taming a A class monster gryphon, have a "legendary" item box, and also close to Elena. How the heck does that "not want to stand out more" even work when he already stick out way more than a sore thumb? About romance part, yeah .. it's not really that smooth either, good thing is it actually exist. As far as I understand, didn't he actually initiated the kiss with Elena right after the war? __________________

Spoiler: It started off looking like it was always going to be a take it easy glacial paced series with the protagonist traveling with his griffin but... Eventually more and more girls are introduced and while they periodically leave the party and return later, it's slowly building towards the protagonist assembling a party(read: harem) of extremely strong characters that all have a long life(more or less eternal youth?) like him. It's mostly because a lot of them are/were people in certain standpoints and they can't just throw everything out and travel with him. Overall it left me pretty content with how the author decided to go with things. The Empire arc is probably the most climatic arc of the series so far though since it actually provided the protagonist with motivation to get strong and improve himself (before that it was practically him killing everything with ease as long as he didn't have to hide his abilities). Another large turning point the Empire arc bought is that he ended up using his abilities in front of an entire army, as a result he gave up hiding his power since it's impossible to keep it a secret after that (however of course only the heroines know the truth, everyone else conveniently misunderstands)

Spoiler: Surprisingly it turns out that the protagonist isn't the strongest(yet) and he's just somewhere between A and S rank as an adventurer. What's wrong with his attitude though?
