Manga does NOT equal porn!

In my school there's some moron who thinks manga is automatically pornography.
Also, he said he never even read a manga because he has a "life" and it's only something for peopple who can't "get some". Yeah, I told him twenty times that manga actually has a plot but he's way too stupid to listen.

I thought if I could get many people to support me he would finally get the picture through his thick skill. Is manga only about prnography? You be the judge.

Obviously everyone in this poll will vote no. The poll is rather black and white. While many manga are in no possible way to be considered p0rn some have a few more mature scenes which might make outsiders think it is.

So basically I think we can all agree that action manga like Naruto Inu Yasha Kenshin or adventure manga like cowboy bebop or even magical manga like Oh My Goddess and shoujo stuff like Fushigi Yuugi isn't p0rn at all

I believe we should narrow the poll and thread down to manga that contain explicit scenes or alot of fanservice and ask ourselves wether this is soft p0rn or not. I'm talking about manga like Get Backers (excessive fanservice) or Ai Yori Aoshi (while true romance in reality it has alot of nudity as well).

In that respect I'd like to refer to this thread where a similar discussion is going on.

100% of all manga porn? Thats an obvious no, but there is a great deal of it that is porn. Ive mostly been reading the darker, more adult oriented stuff and there is always a few explicit scenes. Berserk/Gantz/Battle Royale are my main three right now and all of them have at least one rape, or attempted rape in the case of Gantz though I haven't read all volumes. But do boobies every now and then make the entire series porn? Hell no, porn with storylines this good? It doesn't exist or I havent seen it yet. Sometimes its needed for the storyline though, like in Berserk.......

Well there are a lot of manga that are hentai, but not all of them are hentai (I don't like the word porn).
So I guess it's a no.

Strange, the manga definition says nothing about the word porno, sex, or anything about adult content. Also, isn't porn with using real people and it's always used for sexual desires?

Not all manga is made up of hard core sex. Usually people who say this never read a manga in their life and have no right to say such things and if you have and think manga = porn.......... you never read many manga not for 15 and younger have you? For shame. Then that must mean that all anime based off of manga must be XXX/NC-17 rated films, even Naruto and AzuDai! (No, fanservice is not porn because it's not mostly/full nudity, but just a little eye-candy.)

So manga is just a non-animated version of an anime gone to hell? Yeah, right.

the person in question may have only read hentai or hentai manga which is 100% porn. The person in question may not know other kinds of normal manga exists. Pick any manga you either have already read and don't care if it gets messed up, have a spare set, or whatever if you feel trusting enough... show it to said annoying person and say "just to shut you up, I'll bet *whatever* if you can find one image which shows any sort of porno whatsoever... and when he cannot find any he'll shut up (or if he stupidly points something out which is obviously not porn oriented), just call him Amish from now on.
