Tetsuwan Birdy Decode:02
Um, I guess I am the only one who is even remotely excited about this, since there's been rather a dearth of discussion for this series recently. Anyhow, the sequel to last year's Birdy Decode premiered. Cast and crew are same as before. Director: Kazuki Akane Chief AD and character designer: Ryochimo Script: Hiroshi Ohnogi Animation production: A-1 OP by NIRGILIS (remember them from Eureka 7) is a nice forgettable song. ED has typical Ryochimo animated GIF-style doodling. 8) Anyway, the new villains seem pretty tough and OP hints at MOAR GOMEZ, which is always awesome. In fact, seems like Gomez would be getting fairly up-close and personal with Birdy (or maybe it's one of the villains, I am not certain). Though, the big bad thing they are after is still Ryunka. Ugh... couldn't they come up with something new? There are also loli-Birdy flashbacks a-plenty. Animation is the same as before. Which is great. Last edited by MrProphet; 2009-01-09 at 19:01. |

Animation quality was way down though, given certain episodes in the first series were already bad I'm not holding my breath. Also, seems they dropped Gomez completely and while I can understand the idea (so they can focus on this story), I hate characters that simply disappear without an explanation.

I personally think the OAVs were terrible and not that funny (besides, those were based on the old manga that Yuki discontinued). THe only issue I had with DECODE was that the Tsutomu-Birdy relationship was basically put aside after half series.

Wow the sub quality from Aoshen for Ep1 was pretty terrible. Misspelling Ropongi and calling Tsutomu as Tsunami on the answering machine message were retarded mistakes. Nagasuki instead of Nakasugi ... did they do any editting or spellcheck on this AT ALL? ><
I also noticed the drop in overall animation quality for S2. And judging by the pretty darn good quality A1 did with Kannagi, I can only imagine it's a budget thing. Also -- I wonder what Senkawa is going to do now. Birdy said that his body was damaged beyond repair. Doesn't that mean he's doomed to eventually merge or take over Birdy's body? Or are they going to create him a new Altarian body or something? lol... |

Eh I'm pretty neutral after watching the first episode pretty much like I was towards season 1...It had its moments, but nothing that really made much of an impact.
Hopefully less senkawa stupidity will put this one above last season at the very least.

And typical of A1 Studios when the action takes place in the dark, it STAYS IN THE DARK. God, that irks me so much. And I really wonder about the bodies thing, because they're basically stuck at the moment. They'll have to get around to the explanation phase again. |
