Ayaka is allowed a lot more leeway since she's in charge of guarding Honoka - and for good reason. She can't be expected to follow the normal chain of command, especially when her chain consists of her mother who's also in charge of her area and keeping Honoka sealed as well.
Ayaka can get away with murder - IF it was in the defense of Honoka. She'll still be punished but she won't get nearly as much flak as someone else might.

As I once pointed out, Kazane is the Patrician and Ayaka is technically the princess. Kazane is the final decider of law and order in the city, as a part of her responsibilities as a Workshop Witch. Though as we see with Medusa, she still has her limits when it comes to international incidences and when the German Ambassadors come knocking. Kazane has absolute power, but only in her city.

Nothing she can do about saying no. All evidence point to Germany being Workshop HQ, and that a lot of Kazane's authority came from her being a recognised leader of the organisation. Her authority only lasts as long as the organisation agrees to it.

my first impression for this show doesn't change even watching it up to episode 6. The the guy is a sh*t and my kill list while the witches are good. Nice animation for magic and nice fighting scenes. The tower witches are also funny pretty entertaining if I censor the sole guy's existence in the series

I recently had a look at a really ancient cookbook. The forward had something along the lines of "A woman's worth is measured by her housekeeping and cooking skills. This is the same as with a man who, no matter how else he may be good, couldn't support himself financially or defend himself in a fight, would be considered worthless".
Now, in modern society, we no longer judge women by their home economics capabilities. And yet, men are STILL judged by their financial and combat prowess. I just find it interesting that on the internet, there is widespread condemnation of Honoka for not being able to defend himself. Which as I point out, is no different from condemning a female character for not being able to cook. So at least one part of sexism certainly remains. And this even shows with Honoka himself, who insists that he should fight because of his misguided belief that it is the only thing that matters.

Haha that's very interesting. Honoka's far from the spineless hero type though. Like you said, apart from his lack of combat ability, he's got his head straight in other aspects of his life. Also as has been hinted at, as Honoka's seals weaken further, he'll probably get stronger as well and be able to use more of Evermillion's power. Then, some of you will get your typical shounen lead that you can fantasize about. |

Which is funny in the respect that the more power he draws from Evermillion, the more of a danger he is to himself and to everyone else. Which makes it 'cool' for some people because [strong people don't answer to anyone but themselves].

In Witch Craft Works, fighting with magic involves way more than just magic.
Certainly a lot of it helps, but as we've already seen, witches use everything from guns, swords, whips and even summoned henchmen. Most witches mix everything from magic to physical skill and prowess. A good example is Kazane, who isn't just a beast with magic, but fights on a physical level as well. Heck, it wasn't shown in episode 7, but in the corresponding manga chapter she whips out some brass knuckles while Ayaka was in her fused Medusa form. And Kazane won. So whenever I see Honoka being interested in training with Ayaka, I assume it's more than just the spell craft side of it. He wants to be able to handle himself in a "fight" after all, but then again when you already have Evermillion on your side, most (if not all) threats should be easy peasy. |

Meh, I just kinda accepted that double standards are not uncommon in terms of gender. Like if you're male your car insurance is at least twice of women, or how a promiscuous male is praised as a 'player' while a promiscuous female is derogatory called a 'slut'.

Been waiting for this more than I should have but in the end I don't really care that I did, just loved it! My favourite moment this season.
