I thought the movie was good in its own right. They decided to focus on the electro fishers rather than on Killy, and given that they only had a single movie to work with, I think it was a good decision. It gives people unfamiliar with the manga an idea of what it's like while also telling a story that can stand on its own. This way, if the movie turns out to be popular, they could easily make sequels (though they'd have to retcon some stuff) or a TV series, and if it doesn't, people won't be frustrated by the lack of an ending since it did have one ("our story is over but that character's journey continues" kind).

Saw now with audio in Japanese, an incredible sci-fi movie with great animation and breathtaking action scenes. As long as Polygon Pictures studio exist, there will always be interesting animes.

Just watched it after sitting in backlog for so long....damn, it's so good. Hope they adapt the rest of the manga as well even if only as TV anime

the director confirmed by twitter along with sidonia no kishi season 3. It is in production, but it should take a few years.

I wonder how they'll continue it. Zuru and her people are now not in Toua Heavy Industries so Mensab's arc would have to be rewritten to accomodate this change

Well I'm not saying Sidonia is not a good choice, but there're lots of other options to consider when it comes to recycling...
