This looks pretty interesting. The fact that it is being written by the same author who penned Yuusha-sama no Oshishou-sama peaks my interest even more.

So what is the MC's agenda/plan of action? Does it have the political intrigue YHO had?

Who are the (possibly) harem members?

^He wants to prevent the destruction of his kingdom

For now, he's backing a princess

In the original timeline, that princess lost in political struggle and died

Currently, possible harems are :

1. That Princess
2. An Elf
3. His black dog familiar

So who was his wife in the original timeline? Or has she not shown up yet?

Sounds pretty interesting. Seems like his best bet would be to marry the princess so he can have some real influence over political events. Either that or defect to another country at the earliest opportunity to save his family.

Just read the prologue... I have a bit trouble taking this seriously now though.

While I certainly get that the author gets his inspiration for the battle scene from war films there is one problem. It's not modern warfare, it should be middle age. No way are there gonna be hundreds of arrows by the end of the battle and if the enemy is already crushed, why the hell are they using loud explosive magic to... take on one or two wounded running soldiers?

On a tad unrelated note, why all the Japanese think that western swords need daily maintenance or they get unusable? It's not katana that becomes unusable just by touching it by hand, it's a big piece of steel that if you sharpen once in a year will work always ok as long as you don't go around cutting rocks.

^ Because most Japanese don't properly understand how western swords work obviously. Or rather, most people don't as you always see people going "what's better, broadsword vs katana" and such. They're very different swords designed for different purposes, so there's little to no point in comparing them in terms of "stronger" and the like.

^ I am talking about the battle he died in. It's depiction is exactly as modern battles, but that's not how middle age battle would look.. In the first place, there is no reason to fire arrows except for the starting phase. Later on the two sides are too close and you are more likely to hit your own allies than enemies.

Also, the magic test. Why does he just not like... use magic? If he did that he could prove he has magic talent and take the exam. And I doubt there isn't something like the guys once in a time making a mistake during the test on babies.

1. It's not the end of the battle, it's during the final battle in the area of Liberia's capital and the city is being conquered
2. The magic is not targetting 1 or 2 people, but the area they are garrisoned
3. The sword is dull not because not maintained, MC was in constant battle and the sword was not maintained for 2 weeks and in all that time the sword is being used heavily

Magic test is a Deus Ex Machina
Later he found out that his authority is different from magic so joining the magic curriculum is a bad move
Bad move from the author for the reason indeed

^ Still the big battle depiction was strange for a sword battle. Also the war itself was strange like the wounded soldiers being daily transported back, which is in direct contrast with middle age wars that consisted of usually just a few big fights or long sieges (but no wounded would be transported in that case) and clearly was trying to just depiction the modern protracted trench war.

But except for the few depictions I rather like this series. It has a nice tempo and while sometimes going to cliche, the plot is nice. The romance aspect for the time being seems to not stagnate, but well it's just chapter 35, so this part can go whichever way.

^Heroine is still 11 (if princess route) so will take a while unless timeskip

Nowhere it said transported back daily
Only those absolutely unable to fight anymore sent back permanently (discharged), like his childhood friend

There is nothing like frontline in middle age wars, period.

Most weapons in those periods did need regular maintence if used, you have to remember the steel they had wasn't stainless and rusted easily even finger prints could cause it.

So yes at the bare minimum they usually had a new thin coat of oil applied every day, which is understandable as the weapon was your life.

Why not? What do you think it means?

^^ That might be true for katanas, but hardly for western swords.

^ You really need to ask why there is no frontline? The wars were kinda fluid. You raise an army, then you maneuver with it for some time to get a decent position (on a hill for example) and then one nice day you and your enemy decide it's time and bash your armies together, the next day one of you is running or dead and the other is celebrating.

And secondly, if wounded soldiers are transported in significant numbers (not just the one or two idiots that got kicked by horse or whatever) there should no longer be any battle to be fought, because it already happened. There just weren't battles that would take months and need constant flow of wounded and fresh soldiers like in WW1/2.

I have just reached the beginning of the Military School Training Arc, the novel is still good overall but the plot is thin I thought.
MC is pretty OP after his "past reincarnation", his new 72 magic abilities includes shooting light; summoning big bad black wolf that can turn in to a beautiful girl; making gold from iron, bronze; teleportation and even mind control,...
If he just stop at defending his country and family, well its pretty much more than enough already.
There have been hints from the familiar that could turn to be good plot but I have doubts about that
