Light novel 'Girly Air Force' is getting a TV anime adaptation. Satelite will be producing the series.

Plot

In the novels' story, mysterious flying creatures known as Zai suddenly appear, and in order to fight the creatures, mankind creates fighter aircraft called "Daughters," as well as the automatic fighting mechanism "Anima," which are shaped like human girls. The story centers on a young man named Kei Narutani, who yearns to fly in the sky, and an Anima considered to be humanity's trump card, a girl name Guripen.

Episode 1 is out on CR now.

They sure didn't waste getting right into the action with this one. First few minutes of the show immediately presents aerial combat with the aircrafts (which I think is more advanced than regular fight aircrafts in today's world)

Gripen is definitely someone to watch out for especially in the air. She has potential to be a really powerful fighter. That opening song is also kinda catchy.

Not a big fan of the MC yet though and the fact that he already got kidnapped in the first episode shows his vulnerability. The story also needs time for development.

Typical Satelight series wnen Kawamori is not going all out. Not bad but I am not sure if I'll watch it till the end. Lets see.

Not a bad start. Don't even have a problem with the MC. Has his flaws, but was able and willing to take action. Not that many people are crazy enough to dive out into the ocean to try and rescue someone.

A good move to just jump right into things. Start out with an attack to establish how overpowering these Xi actually are. Just a quick and easy example of why they need these crazy machines to fight back. Without them it just isn't even a fight.

Somehow found it a bit hilarious during the 'interrogation' when the Gripen got pissed off. Don't even need an expression to get the message being sent there

Apparently all you need to do is paint it pink and stick some led strips on it to make the Gripen 39E(I guess) into a decent fighter.

The first episode definitely gave me Darling in the Franxx flashbacks. Other than that it seems decent, but I'm not sure how long I'll stick with it.

Template Light Novel harem where all of the main cast of characters are females except the MC, so I ain't watching it.

Darling in the Franxx had a balance of both male and female characters(and multiple side couples formed other than the main couple by the end of the anime), so I liked that very much compared to this template LN borefest.

Even some visual novels had male characters in it even though most of them play side character roles, so I find it very amusing why some LN authors didn't want to add teenage male characters to the cast other than the MC despite knowing that many readers and viewers find it more interesting were there a more balanced cast of genders.

So far this seems like a pretty generic new entry in the genre of 'miltary hardware meets cute girls' though more like that one with the submarine the name of which escapes me than the one with the tanks.

Did find the sequence with the Cessna hilarious though.

Might give it another episode or two but so far it's a bit generic.

Are you telling me they saw him and decided to bait him using it? What? And then the childhood friend girl somehow manages to catch up to the guy. And the colorful planes in the OP and ED feel weird for some reason. Anyways, it was pretty mundane, but I guess it wasn't that bad? It felt like looking at Swiss Cheese though. As for the protagonist, uhh... Okay. So he can't beat his childhood friend at anything, but he is the chosen one and now gets to play around with girls. Hmm... Sure. It happens. Ah well, harem animes are always okay to watch.
