Something that shakes them to the core as a start and premise for a series might work. But would it be something like the city-ship is actually starting to break down? They've managed to keep her form the boneyards, but at what cost? Why was the ship to be decommissioned in the first place? Is she really, just that old and needs to be decommissioned or some very expensive refits in order to keep serving as a school?

I know a bunch of 1950s era schools that were taken out by the state due to issues they've have trying to rebuild them for either modern technology, or wear, or environmental issues (asbestos).

Issues with their school ship would turn the continuation into Girls und Panzer: Mighty Ships edition. Fun that might be, I don't think it's likely they'll use the school ship as a catalyst a third time. I'm personally hoping it deals more with the girls' future endeavours with Panzerfahren and whether or not they're striving for competition at a professional or international level.

I didn't say it is a panzer uniform, did I. I said they made "new uniforms", which as you say is the winter one.

I used to think that long-sleeved thing we see them wear was their summer uniform too. However, in der Film about 47-50 seconds in, there is one cut where we actually see short-sleeved Oarai uniforms. When I noticed it I started to chuckle b/c while I can understand not making a summer uniform altogether to save design costs, they shoudn't be reminding us of this lack

Well, so they are making a new uniform, or at least a winter jacket they can throw over their regular uniform, which is more than what der Film got, so I'm betting series.

It won't be because of 3 logic reasons:

1. They made a stage for world tournament game in anime, OVA's, manga and now movie.

2. They earned a lot o money ( as in, the biggest grossing anime movie ever ).

3. If they decide to do an OVA instead of full length TV series and leave it at that... they can pretty much close the company as fan-base would be so outraged that it would hurt their reputation in the end.

So I highly doubt that this will be anything but series about world tournament.

I have to ask, where are you getting those "ONE DAY trip" and "armor train" assumptions from anyway?

I believe those claims stem from this one screenshot in reference to the newspaper visible:

Images
Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?

The resolution might not be high enough to easily discern what's going on, but that's what is being referred to. With that being said, there's not a chance that this is going to be a one-episode continuation. I imagine that Hata is missing the bigger picture: the elements shown in the trailer is merely a short glimpse as to what's happening, a single event in a larger narrative. A one day event, if true, could be the disruption that drives the events in the continuation.

Further to this, it's as Brother Coa states: from a financial perspective, it makes no sense to only do an OVA given the financial success and warm reception Girls und Panzer has generated. Fans are going to look forwards to a continuation, and a TV series will easily generate more money than a single OVA. Of course, if there is substantial evidence showing this to not be true, I would be quite happy to take a look. In fact, I'll eat my hat if we wind up with only an OVA.

Finally, as for the armoured train, looks like someone is experiencing some Battlefield 1 beta withdrawal

No they didn't. I mean, the movie was a success and sold extremely well, but the company spent even more in production. In fact, they apparently couldn't break even despite the movie being a hit.

Pretty sure that the GuP production committee earned the profits from the movie's ticket sales and home video release. If not, they wouldn't have greenlit the "Final Chapter". The one who lost money was Studio Actas since they went over the allotted budget by the production committee to make the movie. They didn't got the profits for the movie's success because they were not in production committee.

Most likely new updates of the Final Chapter will come out at the Oarai Ankou Festival in November.

It's going to be 6 parts consisting of 40 minutes each. Premiering in theaters in December 2017.

So, it's gonna be like Gundam Unicorn & Digimon Adventure Tri OVAs? Will they also divide the final episode into two later on like Harry Potter & Gundam Unicorn because there's too much material to cover?

That's an interesting twist on the method of presentation. Hmm.

Okay then ... thread title changed and moved to the Movies/OVA section.

That's so far in the future it won't even be funny. If they adopt a Gundam Unicorn release schedule and then encounter delays in production, Half-Life 3 will come out, and we'll put man on Mars twice, before this finishes. I can't say I'm a fan of the whole "in theatres first" methodology.

A very Actas-friendly schedule. Gives them ample time to work out the important details and hopefully not have to rush anything. With how Actas had to delay the airing of Regalia by a whole two months and how Long Riders is plagued with weekly delays and poorly rushed animation, I'm glad they aren't shoveling this out as a Winter 2017 TV anime right on the feet of Regalia and Long Riders because that would definitely put a strain on the production and deliver an inferior product.

The main issue is, of course, the wait. But as a GuP fan, I'm quite used to waiting for it now. Perfectionism is Mizushima's middle name, let him work his magic.

I'd rather have this kind of release since given Actas' current problem with delays and low quality art/animation experienced by Regalia and Long Riders!, at least high quality will be maintained for GuP final chapter.

If they go the route of "limited BDs available at theatres", I'm game for that approach. It worked well for Tamayura: Graduation Photo.

So they are going the Digimon Adventures Tri route, then? That should work.
