Aside from the official site, has any more lineart for the Gatlantis ships been released? I'm trying to find weapon placements on some of them, particularly the Gostok-class.

We see the Gostok a little in episode 10 from the rear, but at a distance. No action, just seeing the fleet while the character are talking.

Some of the CG artists have been busy.

Also someone has a similar idea to mine of using Space Battleship Arizona in this series. Though I was thinking of also having Space Battleship Musashi and Shinano as additional ships of Yamato's class (BBY-02 and BBY-03), as oppose to this artist's idea that Arizona is BBY-02. I was thinking of having Musashi and Shinano so the production staff could have those types of scenes were it looks like the hero ship gets destroyed and knocked out to show just how serious things are, or how powerful the enemy is, without actually killing Yamato and her crew. Shinano would be destroyed or crippled (with the option of converting her into a carrier later) Musashi would be crippled and crash land into the ocean on Earth, to be recovered later so she can appear in a different configuration in the Yamato: Resurrection line of films.

Spoiler for Episode 11 preview:

Random thought: the information on Yamato's refit mentions there is now a small factory onboard, like there was in the original series version. In Yamato 2199, the Cosmo Reverse System was used shipwide prior to the ship reaching Earth orbit. In Yamato 2202 we find that the use of this device on Earth created a temporal pocket dimension where Earth places a huge shipyard.

Could the use of the Cosmo Reverse System on Yamato have also created a tiny pocket dimension on Yamato? And would Sanada have build his fabrrication machines to use said pocket dimension so thinks will be constucted almost instantly, like they were in the original series?

Curious about which Garmillas characters were inspired by real-life people. I know Desler, Gimleh and Domel are Hitler, Himmler and Rommel, respectively. Who else?

Do the humanoid races (Earthlings, Garmillans, Iscandarians, Zaltz, Jirel, Gatlantians, etc.) share the same ancestral/precursor race, like Star Trek's ancient humanoids and Macross' Protoculture? If so, was this a modern development in the Yamato franchise?

Most Gamillan people are based on German Army, Naval and political officers or people.
Though I could only find these for the time being:
Fommt Berger - Gottlob Berger SS general
Gremdt Goer - Hermann Göring
Walke Shultz - Friedrich Schulz Army general (I doubt he based on the Gestapo Officer Erwin Shultz)

The Admiral is named more or less after Admiral Karl Donitz.

The Aquarians serve as the progenitors as told in the Ark of the Stars movie.

I've reopened the 2199 thread and moved the recent posts there. Please use that thread to discuss the 2199 dub.

Thank you.

FYI, "Lightning type" is a literal translation; in Japanese, it's 雷撃型 (Dengeki-kei), based on the real appellation for military aircraft, 雷撃機 (Dengeki-ki), which is the equivalent to "Torpedo Bomber" in English.

I wonder, does this mean they are combining the two versions with the turret? There was the three seat version that Yamato used sometimes as a recon craft, and then there was the two seat version that was painted a red color on the battlecarriers.

Tell me more. Please, tell me more.

I see blue painted Cometine cruisers....plus definite SMITE use in the same image. Also....sword ships? Not sure what those missile battleship have on their bows. Sabera crying? Cosmo Tiger II acting as mecha transport?

Also Yamato captains seem to prefer flying into point blank range of enemy fleets it would seem.

Here's the mechanical pages. Character pages whenever I feel like. The usual Google translate disclaimers apply.

Spoiler for Lotta pictures:

So it's quite obvious the Neo Deusura has a lot more weapons than shown. Unfortunately given its length (730 meters without the front armor plate, whatever that means), it's unlikely we'll get a 1/1000 model. Bandai's probably not gonna make another Zoelguut-length model that's also wider, to my forever disappointment. Maybe we'll get a better idea if/when they release the mechanics art book. Also, the core ship's bridge is still there, but recessed into the ship. The green windows are the new bridge.

Dengeki Hobby has some bigger images: http://hobby.dengeki.com/news/485199/

The Neo Deusura's shown to hold 15 "Gorland missiles" on the underside just as the info page said, so that's a pretty hefty armament especially when it can SMITE them right into your face.

Speaking of which, upon closer inspection those Gostok swords are also part mace, since it looks like it has a hexagonal structure from the front. Glad we see the Gostok carrying different armament, though not exactly what I was expecting. The sword-maces more or less double the Gostok's length, and presumably use the usual missiles as propulsion if it's meant to be launched.

I don't know why, but the mechs hitching a ride on the Cosmo Tiger II booster is amusing. I don't think that's how they're usually meant to be transported. They also seem to be mounting Cosmo Tiger II missiles on their back.
