That was the best episode so far, filled with all the crazyness and strange elements of FLCL. I always knew that Haruko was the bad guy/final boss but never expected her to be so bold and selfish, on the first season she wasn't like that even when she did everything to reach Atomsk but now she's going all out. I feel bad for Jinryu to be honest, after trying to protect Hidori and Ide from Haruko and the medical mechanical robot she ended being devoured.

So now we have 2 guys after Hidori, obviously Ide will be the one who gets her. Another thing that left me confused was the true nature of Haruko's power, the old man and the other guy mentioned that is not Atomsk power but something else. Also that was freaking Canti? never expected to see him back but looks like something happened to him.

Oh yea it revealed a lot.

Mainly Haruko is a piece of shit and deserves to burn in hell for eternity. Hated her since day 1 of the whole anime and when they introduce cool chick whos good they do her in like shit and give the evil B**** the spotlight.

What a waste of a season 2.

Saying season 2 is a waste just because you hate a character? that's ridiculous.

Haruko was always like that, the difference is something Jinryu pointed out after being defeated, she understood why Haruko is doing this and that maybe she's right after all. This is FLCL we still don't know what's happening behind the scenes until the end, try to think a little bit about it.

This whole thing with her and Atomsk got me intrigued now. Is there some thing more to the latter other than the power it/he wields? I've been skeptical of Haruko since she came into Naota's life and she treated him harshly at times, using him to get Atomsk's power. We barely know a thing about her and we might see more at the end of Progressive, which will lead into Alternative.

Some hints about it are present inside Hidori's dreams, for example, remember when she turned into a robot after she found a gigantic body of a monster that was dying? some people think that monster is Atomsk and Canti is fused with Hidori at that moment thanks to his power in order to fight against the Medical Mecanical.

Another theory going around is that Haruko just want to free Atomsk from his own power and that's why she tried to obtain that power and keep it for herself but her rational half, AKA Jinryu didn't wanted to do it because Atomsk should be free, who knows.

Spoiler for Episode 5 summary:

Son of a Gun! Anyway, The beginning part had Hidori continuing her dreams until she wakes up. Haruko, at the amusement park, sits on the roller coaster tracks, seemingly looking pregnant (I thought she ate too much), either way she shows it off with the kids in class, and after some hijinks, they go running off to the amusement park. Still persistent with Hidori, she tries to get a response until Ide wanted to "talk to her" in private, which obviously he wanted Haruko to leave Hidori alone and takes a couple of swings at her, only to fail miserably. Haruko best him, and expresses her disappointment in Ide for being such a loser, who just doesn't have it in him. Ide responds his disappointment in return. Haruko attempts to kiss him, but once Hidori comes in she sees the two, and has a overflow that inhales Ide into her head. Haruko leaves telling Hidori that she's waiting for her at the park. Meanwhile, some strange N.O. stuff is happening at the park, with people exhibiting the same stuff that Ide, Hidori, and Marco, who is in bit of a predicament. They plan to use that energy to do something about the giant iron that flipped up top and exhibiting some fog. Hidori has a flashback or during her slump, she talks with her mom who decides to close up the café, that incites a response that even I knew that it was about their father/husband, and her mom decides to move on. The black jumpsuit she held just inflated and flies up into space, where it's grabbed by a satellite and transported to a place where Canti's head has a dog body and is fed by some elderly lady. And Hidori she suddenl begins to have mechanical stuff around her. Back at the park, Haruko abs are back to normal and the "staff" makes their move draining the N.O. energy from the crowd, and use that to attack the giant iron with a castle mech of their own, and the iron repairs itself and returns fire dealing damage. The episode has a few minutes ending with Hidori confronting Haruko, and while Haruko claims that she did what she did just to help her out. Hidori attacks, wanting Ide back, and speaks to her regarding Atomsk that she finds stupid, and Haruko is no better than the rest. Then the same red energy lits up the skys, and Haruko speaks Atomsk's name.

I may have to look at that episode again. I wonder what that stuff with the amusement park is about. They did talk about wrinkles that I'm familiar with since the first season. Oy! That only leaves one episode left.

The previous episode for me was something really good but this one was just over the top. I love the animation and how that single detail gave this episode a different atmosphere, we learned more about Hidori's mother in that flashback showing what happened with her father and it seems that moment broke something inside Hidori, something that of course is connected to what's happening now.

In the end Hidori is right, Haruko is just a girl in love but she's trying to deny it, quite interesting to see how her mood changed right away when she saw Atomsk. One more episoe to go, so far so good, I expect an amazing ending next week.

Oh, one thing that I didn't liked about the episode is how they used the old songs again on moments that didn't fit in the mood, why not using the new ones? or maybe those are for Alternative?

Haruko's become completely unhinged. Whatever secret organization is starting their plan to destroy the Medical Mechanica plant by absorbing the N.O. of the couples. Canti is somehow rebooting, and ate what was left of Ide after Hidomi sucked him into her head. Not!Amarao confronts his daughter about the plant she sold. Hidomi is refusing to accept the changes in herself and dealing with the fact her mom has stopped waiting for her dad, at least initially as in the final scene she confronts Haruko only to both be stopped as the sky turns red denoting Atomsk being summoned (possibly through Canti and Ide?).

Also, "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can". Ah, that song! Such a callback to last episode of the original, only Ide doesn't have Atomsk power so he had no chance against Haruko.

Yeah. After that whole thing, Ide just doesn't have that kind of power, otherwise he would have exhibited more. It may have some sense that Hidori has it, considering even the last end of the episode, although it seems that Atomsk could be summoned another way. I don't know until I watch the last episode. It never left my head with Haruko, why else would she be willing to travel even to the cosmos and back looking for this guy. And especially if Season 3: Alternative is any indication.

Well, it was fun. Finally got the giant mech outside Hidomi's dreams. Also, Jinyuu's back and Canti's been fully restored! Have to wait till September for Alternative. Overall, I enjoyed it.

Lastly... NO NAOTA CAMEO AT THE END REEEE~!

Spoiler for Episode 6:

Honestly when it gets down to it, even if I watched this so many times, it always leaves such a question in my head with Raharu. To keep this short, Hidori fights Raharu to get Ide back, but the latter constantly dodges at every turn. Her pleas to ask to give Ide back fail, and that big iron shoots a lot of mochi I think turning everyone into the same white form as it. (I keep forgetting her name, but that same girl who has been saving money for apparently her freedom, was about to evacuate but goes back to her house to look for that potted planet that plays a role somehow. Her house gets crushed and the two guys get hit, The red haired man gives her her pumpkin that she stores her money for her freedom, before he turns into mochi. Meanwhile Hidori and Raharu gets absorbed into that strange space, and in that space is exactly how Hidori saw it in her dream. Aiko meets with Hinae and Goro and goes to Ide's house to get the plant, and at the cafÃ©, she somehow comes in contact with Conti and Hidori and Hinae talk it out. After that, the cafÃ© is crush, but the three made it out safely and goes to the iron. In that strange space. Raharu and Hidori deal with another mechanical being, and before you know it Conti shows up back to normal and helping to fighting it off. Hidori gets the headphones off with Conti's assistance and finally turns into the mecha form in her dreams from the first episode. They defeat the being, and then make their way to escape, with Conti seemingly left behind. Once they are out and on top of a satellite, There's Atomsk in Conti with Ide still left inside. This leaves Hidori and Raharu to duke it out and they both kiss the robot. As a result, Raharu finally gets the power she seeks and Conti releases Ide. (Oh and before I forgot. Goro, Hinae, and Aiko get to the iron. Aiko drops it, and next thing you know, she becomes one with the plant that ultimately takes out the iron. Back to Raharu, she seems to have the power, only to lose control and she regurgitates Atomsk out of her body. She rants at Atomsk, saying that she chased him this far, that she was this close, why isn't he allowing her to have this. Atomsk and Raharu share an embraces before he takes off again. Jinryu comes back in living color and Raharu breaks in tears and hugs Jinryu. After all that it's over. Goro and Hinae seems a plant and Aiko is released, with Goro catching her in the nick of time before she hits the ground. They both laugh at this dorky moment Goro pulled off there. Marco from the previous episode was questioning his role with what he had help with. As for Raharu, Ide and Hidori. Ide tells her that while he has feelings for her, his heart goes to someone else (Hidori). Raharu laughs it off, and she leaves. As the credits roll, while everything's a wreck. The cafÃ© is ongoing, Aiko and Goro seems to be a real couple, marco is driving that duck thing, Jinryu leaves, and even though we never see it, Hidori and Ide kiss. Anyway, it's a crazy ride in its own right and now season 3 Alternative, comes out on September 8th.

Jiryu and Raharu (Haruko) argue over Atomsk, Jinryu believes he's better off free, while Haruko thinks otherwise. Hidori was acting more bubbly as a result of the previous episode with the emergence system in place. And we find out more why she is the way she is from her talking. A fight breaks out between Jinryu and haruko, with another metal being coming from the N.O. channel, this time from someone else's head, which turned out to be an accidental bump in the head which transferred over to him. And it ends with the thing being beaten and Jinryu being devoured by Haruko, and she persists in asking Hidori to join her, only for the girl to reject such an offer, knowing what Haruko truly wants. The preview shows Ide standing up to Haruko and attempting to swing the guitar at her, of course Haruko's got too much experience to allow that to happen, and we all know she's persistent in her goals, she'll attempt to take Hidori by force to get to Atomsk. edit We saw Conti after so many years and 4 episodes I believe. He's not in the best of shapes, and that's putting it lightly. He's not responding and he's being checked out by the homeless man and I forgot the other guys name.
