The new "anti-austerity" Syriza came in not far behind but unsurprisingly won't join a coalition with ND. Looks like a coalition of the two mainstream parties, New Democracy and PASOK, will govern for a while. Despite the hoopla in the media about how this election will determine the future of Greece, its membership in the Eurozone, or the future of the Euro itself, it's hard to see how anything has really changed. A left-leaning coalition of PASOK and Syriza isn't in the cards, as those two do not command a legislative majority.

Any government needs 151 of the 300 MPs in a vote of confidence or 120 as long as they are the majority of those present during the vote. After that to pass any law only a majority of the present MPs during the vote is required.

This means that the only government feasible is New Democracy with the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (the same coalition partners before this election, see notes [1][2] above). There is some talk about the Democratic Left to join them for the new coalition to gain more social acceptance than the old one, but it's not necessary.

This was posted in another thread and has been re-posted in the media for the past six(?) months since scientists have no clear idea of where the solar wind stops and where insterstellar space starts; it could be like earths atmosphere that expands and contracts in a cyclical pattern and who knows, there could be gusts of wind out there. All in all it is a miracle that tecnology built 34 years ago has survived the freezing temperatures of deep stellar space and that we can still receive information from it with no relay stations anywhere on the solar system (when I was a kid everyone though by now we would have stations on the moon, mars and we would be starting to do missions on saturn and jupiter ). Sadly nowadays techology is better but is built to last as little as posible without the consumer noticing, gone are the times of cars and consumer electronics that were built to last, I bet by the time I get my own all purpose cultural cat girl it will last less than most phones do nowadays >_<

I mostly posted it to remind people that a lot of the stuff we thrash about in this thread is small peanuts to the Universe - some perspective is good.

I worked at NASA on a variety of programs during the 80s and early 90s (BSEE (digital controls) with a minor in astrophysics) so yeah I'm kind of familiar with the space program, astrophysics, science, engineering, etc.

On Wednesday, June 13, members of the Occupy movement protested against a conference dedicated to combatting child sex trafficking - thus, the Occupiers in essence were coming out in favor of one of society's most loathsome moral crimes.

The protesters mostly were members of Occupy Oakland Patriarchy, a group within the overall Occupy movement tasked with overthrowing our civilization's "patriarchy."

ATLANTA -- A Georgia woman fighting a flesh-eating disease is refusing to take pain medications during some procedures, partly because of her personal convictions, her father said.

Aimee Copeland despises the use of morphine in her treatment, despite its effectiveness at blocking her pain, her father said in a Friday online update on his daughter's condition. Her graduate-school study of holistic pain management techniques leads her to feel she's a "traitor to her convictions" when she uses drugs to manage her pain, Andy Copeland said.

He also said the morphine has been making his daughter groggy, confused and has given her unpleasant hallucinatory episodes.

Aimee Copeland, 24, developed necrotizing fasciitis after cutting her leg in a fall May 1 from a homemade zip line over a west Georgia river. Her left leg, other foot and both hands have been amputated.

On Tuesday, Copeland's condition was upgraded from critical to serious, "a major victory that cannot and should not be diminished," Andy Copeland wrote Friday on his blog, where he has been providing regular updates on her progress. The development came shortly after Aimee Copeland had her first successful skin graft.

"The area of her wound, which I saw for the first time on Sunday during a dressing change, is massive," her father wrote in Friday's update.

"The nurse who completed Aimee's dressing change was astonished at Aimee's insistence to avoid morphine during the procedure, as was her mother and I," he wrote. "I know the pain was significant, but Aimee's courage is greater."

The bacteria that attacked Aimee Copeland's wound releases a toxin that destroys skin, muscle and a layer of tissue below the skin known as fascia, her father says.

Despite the painful skin grafts, Aimee Copeland has crossed several milestones in recent weeks. She can breathe on her own, she no longer needs dialysis and she's now able to eat on her own, her father wrote. Although her major organs are all functioning well, Aimee Copeland still needs supplemental nutrition through a stomach tube.

This weekend, thousands of people are expected at a long-planned fund-raising event outside Atlanta to help the family with medical expenses. The two-day benefit concert in Aimee Copeland's hometown of Snellville begins at 5 p.m. Friday and continues through Saturday night.

Flesh-eating bacteria victim Aimee Copeland is pleading for painkillers after skin graft surgery has left her feeling like a “patchwork quilt,” according to her father, Andy Copeland.

The Georgia student, 24, originally refused pain medications due in part to her personal convictions and graduate-school background in holistic pain management techniques. Her preferred method of dealing with the pain was meditation, but that has done little to assuage the sting of skin grafts and muscle flaps that were necessary to close a gaping wound on her abdomen and groin.

According to Dr. J. Blair Summitt, assistant professor of plastic surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., a skin graft transplant is a fairly straightforward procedure, but a painful one that often necessitates narcotic painkillers like morphine and Fentanyl for patients, ABC News reports.

“Aimee is now taking pain medication in as liberal a dose as can be prescribed. If she even dared to refuse taking it, which she wouldn’t, then the doctors would most certinaly administer it in an IV drip,” her father wrote in a blog post.

“Even so, the allowable doses of Morphine, Fentanyl and Lyrica are often inadequate to deal with the pain that Aimee is now experiencing,” he continued, adding that his daughter is now requesting medication ahead of schedule.

It was nearly seven weeks ago that Copeland sustained a cut on her calf during a fall from a homemade zip line over a west Georgia river. She was diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis, an infection from a rare flesh-eating bacteria. Doctors were forced to amputate her left leg, right foot and hands.

Although it hurts her to talk, Copeland managed to wish her dad a happy Father’s Day on Sunday.

That last bit tugs at my emotions, too.

But can you imagine that kind of suffering? We just can't place ourselves in her shoes. She is suffering so terribly bad. I've been saying to myself that it just isn't fair with what she is going through. All from a measly cut.

Although I agree that the stuff we bicker about are done by people who lost their marbles on this blue marble, I would like to point out that this old man is lying.

He didn't exactly work for NASA, that is his cover profile. He actually works for the CIA on various satellite-based mind-control programmes, notwithstanding replacing fluorine with other "better germ killing sanitisers" for our water purification as part of mind-control and hiding our alien origins (a.k.a Protoculture), amongst other things.

Even then, the NASA and CIA are just front covers for a NWO. This is all a conspiracy.
