I think it kind of sucks that they killed off Lira this fast (or at all to be completely honest ). I liked her character. Anyways I kind of suspected something like this would happen ever since that Li/Lee guy said Fan needed something to kick him into fighting/revenge mode. Would be interesting to see Fan turn into a merciless commander that kills off tytania withouth prejudice, but I highly doubt it.

Yay, you're finally caught up!
As an aside, I'm sort of annoyed over Lira's death myself, but only because it just further emphasized that she was ultimately a one-dimensional plot device in a sea of otherwise decent characters.

Anh Minh's hindsight powered advice:
- wait until you're safely away for the tearful reunion and the sharing of irrelevant news; - if your girlfriend takes a bad guy with her in a pool full of carnivorous fish, shoot the bad guy. At best the concentrate on the bleeding bad guy. At worst it spurs them into a feeding frenzy and she doesn't die alone. |

Now we have a 'Phantom of the Space Opera', somewhat....
Seriously, space operas don't need stuff from James Bond movies (be it fishes or alligators or whatever munches the bones of opponents to dust; besides, they took the fishes design from Last Exile!). So far this show really lacks some good memorable scenes and punches LotGH had, like the one in one of the last episodes where Oberstein scolds Bittenfeld and asks him how many more bones of imperial soldiers he intends to spread across the Iserlohn corridor. I suspect budget constraints but this show lacks a bit of momentum. Everyone who's important is too pretty, people talk too much and drink too much tea. LOGH had blood, grit and a more visceral quality. I don't want every show to be like Gurren-Lagann, mind you. But Tytania sure would gain from a faster pace and a more active and entusiastic protagonist... |
