Maybe, but I don't see how this could convince people who already have their minds made up one way or the other

A Certain Magical Index Film Adds 45 More Theaters

Quote:
The official website for the Toaru Majutsu no Index: Endymion no Kiseki (A Certain Magical Index: The Miracle of Endymion) anime film announced that the film will expand its run with 45 more theaters on April 6.
37 + 45 = 82

Not that I'm sceptical or anything but I'm kind of ... sceptical about this. Can anyone confirm if there's no mistranslation about this?

If that is true, Index is going to make an absolute fortune. Possibly unprecedented but I probably don't know enough about it.

Someone on 4chan archive translated it as "45 theaters in total", not "adding 45 more", that would be too much in my opinion.
I mean they have enough (252 theaters in whole Japan - owned by 12 companies), but still, anime movies don't usually air in all of them.

I'm not denying that there could be a mistranslation, but 82 theaters is hardly the most number of theaters for an Anime movie.

It's 45 additional theatres. Count the ones that say "4月6日~" on the list. Most anime movies add more theatres throughout the country. Disappearance started with just 24 theatres, but added ~100 more to that throughout 8 months.

They are really making a fortune out of Index franchise. But it still sad that there is still few recognition of it in the outside country. Its sad if there is no one to talk about your favorite series aside from few forums or people in the net.

A comparison I can make is people shout oppai dragon and 16.5 in anime convention that I visit that its like a normal thing even though its not. Specially the darn 16.5 because even my friend who is not an anime otaku but instead of a game and gun otaku have heard of it. Such wonders of swords and sexual urge of people

So it's finally slowing down... But then next month those 45 extra theaters would probably breathe life into it again.

Depends. They could increase it, but to what extent? Adding the extra 7 theatres helped in week 3, but it only helped a certain amount.

Yaraon has focused on a quote from Nishikiori where he said Kamachi wrote enough to make a two cour anime series regarding the story of what would become the movie.

(me->)This would explain the additional manga serialized/novel given out to help tie things together.

*what actually happened*

Nishikiori : "Kamachi-sensei about the movie, could you write a story no more than 2 hours long?"

Kamachi: "Got it."

wow

the animation is fascinating. It gives me more reason to storm to japan right now and watch it and since I'm in vacation I don't have anything much to do.
