Yeah this is very true, and honestly I was kidding. But if you think about it from what we read (or maybe didn't read) from Oriko:

Mami simply needed a pep talk to calm down. If a little kid such as Yuma could do it, hell I'm sure Madoka could have done it 10 times better...

But like I said you're completely right! Plus this episode wouldn't have had as much of an impact it did if a scene such as Mami's break down was omitted.

In Oriko Mami didn't see ONE OF HER FRIENDS become a Witch, and she didn't go instantly for the kill button because normal people were in danger. Madoka didn't have time for a speech at all and Mami wouldn't of listened.

So yea, it wouldn't of really worked out. I'm just glad that Mami going wtfcrazy isn't an 100% guarantee.
