I have to say that I'm pretty shocked that we're getting more Haruhi anime, even if it is an adaptation of a manga spinoff.

I've actually read some of this manga, and I thought it was pretty good. It's a bit more lighthearted than the LNs are, in my view, but it's cute and sometimes interesting.

I think that Kadokawa probably views this as a test as to whether or not Haruhi anime fans are willing to buy into a non-KyoAni Haruhi anime. I think they'd like to determine that before pushing further into the LNs themselves.

So I'm certainly hoping this sells well, since I think that getting more of the LNs adapted into anime is probably dependent on it.

Since this is apparently the only one source for that, it's likely that the entire announcement about Mikuru spin-off is a hoax or misunderstanding.

Update: Upon closer inspection it's clear that whole thing is based on a simple post on 2ch without any specific source or information, thus it's definitely hoax.

No, it's rather completely alternative setting, set in a world that is similar to Shoushitsu world, but there are no supernatural elements and original world never existed (or at least it seems from the current chapters).
