If it doesn't end next week, then I'm done with this show. I was actually going to buy the blu-rays for this show until this crap happened. I don't even know if I want Kyo-Ani to do FMP anymore.

The one redeeming aspect of this entire endless loop. Kyo Ani will occasionally give us a quality image of Haruhi in a 2 piece.

It seems like there's some talk about Kyoani will be handling DVD sales. I've been taking my summer math class final all day, so could someone briefly fill me in?

At least now Kyon has an excuse for not coming up with any way out of the loop. He's too fixated on Haruhi's sex appeal!

You better hope it's not. Because it says that Endless Eight will run for 12 episodes

There could be 4 episodes of Sigh, which would take place right after Endless Eight and before the rest of the old episodes. Aren't the numbers supposed to indicate where it takes place volume wise from the old DVDs?

Edit: Er..6 episodes of Sigh. Or maybe 5. idk, nvm...

No way they will do Sighs in one episode ... come on that would be suicide (financially)

That would also put a huge gravestone to the most popular franchise Kadokawa and KyoAni currently handle

If KyoAni actually does this, then Haruhi's finished. Completely finished. Beyond a shadow of a doubt.

I'd like to know the source for...

This has been posted but the parody fan reaction youtube link is hilarious (->Hitler).

http://www.cartoonleap.com/2009/07/3...ess-nice-butt/

I've seen very little about how the "fans that count" (the Japanese otaku) are reacting to the situation now (mostly for lack of time). Anyone have a summary of general reaction?
(other than "nice butt!")

The more people talk about the franchise being dead and wanting it to suffer, that may actually be worse for it than anything the producers are doing. For at least this current run, even with the odd marketing methods, the people behind it are going out of their way, even if it was in secret, to keep it running. There's still plenty of new episodes left unaired and other things on the horizon.

But if the fans bring it upon themselves...

The Calculus of Endless Eight... (look under Endless Eight in a Mathematical Sense) and yes, this is a joke.

And you know this how?

Seriously, why the hell should any of us trust KyoAni and Kadokawa at this juncture? Who says that they have anything else prepared beyond Endless Eight and one freakin' episode of Sighs?

Well, there are two stories currently between DVD#5 and DVD#6. Endless Eight and Sigh. So they have seven discs to tell two stories, of which they have already divoted four discs to Endless Eight (because we'll be seeing it at least once more). The question is if they will make Sigh five episodes or less, since the last disc seems priced to be a single episode on the DVD much like the first disc with BLR.

Why does everyone blame it entirely on Kyo-ani and not Kadokawa? Kadokawa is funding this show. This clearly was not decided by Kyo-ani alone. Kadokawa does marketing for the show. Kadokawa is on the production committee. Very little of this has to do with Kyo-ani at all.

Kyoani has nothing to do with the DVDs. Other companies handle the DVD releases for them. (Pony Canyon, Kadokawa, etc)

The BOLD is confirmed via an official soliciation.
The GREEN has a picture floating around of it. (With a date of 9/25, KABA-6002)
The ORANGE is via the moonphase/tarekomi leak/2ch.
The RED is pure 2ch speculation at this point.
(The ep counts are confirmed via the price points)

I don't know much of anything, actually. But I don't see how flagellating the franchise is going to help matters. What I'm trying to say is: "With all this talk of hoping it suffers, you may very well kill it." Thereby ridding the chance for anything new in the future. At least let it run its full course.

Look, I don't want the Endless Eight DVDs to do so badly that this anime is finished.

BUT... I do want KyoAni and Kadokawa to pay some sort of price for this - to receive some sort of wake-up call - because otherwise, we as anime fans are probably going to see more stunts like this in the future... and from more than this anime alone.

Mind you, if KyoAni/Kadokawa gives us 12 straight episodes of Endless Eight (as 2ch speculates - thanks for the info, bayoab ), then it won't matter what any of us says. Some of the Endless Eight DVDs will bomb if 6 of them are nothing but Endless Eight - only your hardest of hard core collectors will actually get all 6 (whereas if it was all different episodes with unique content...).

Don't try to pin this on the fans - this is KyoAni and/or Kadokawa's own doing. This is their stupid little stunt that may self-inflict their flagship anime into death.

They're destroying their figures and books. I can't find the images at the moment, but they're physically raging, rather than just internet raging.
