Hmm, yeah, it's not really Jump material. It's like Enigma stripped of Jump themes and made more grim. I wonder how the chief editor will handle that, and how it'll influence Ashirogi.
And what's with killing the main character 10 chapters in? Kinda breaks the chance of serialization. Maybe the mangaka knows he'll have to change things to be more "Jump-like". So he just wrote what was "interesting" knowing a lot would be changed anyway. |

Engima x Deathnote . As expected of Ouba. No point comparing with PCP since we know they are from the same guy LOL! So that fan is mimicking Mashiro's art style, eh? I saw Mashiro and Azuki inside LOL! Obata is good but need some variations. He could have used back Akari from Hikaru no Go for the gal in the nested manga.
EDIT: and I just bought the character book, surprisingly, both Miho and Kaya are older than their beaus. Last edited by larethian; 2011-01-15 at 12:32. |

Wow, even Death Note didn't kill everyone. That's some intense stuff.

The whole manga reminds me off Saw, even more so than Enigma. Seems to be a show of the worst parts of humanity, which makes me wonder if the author is a hardcore cynic who hates the world or is just trying to be different. I also have mixed feelings about it. First, I'm just not into hopeless, depressing mangas with bad endings. Second, I also was wondering if any logic was given to manga and how it went from some voice who could seemingly disintegrate people on a whim to a man-eating doppleganger. It just didn't make much sense. Of course, it could have been explained in chapters we weren't shown, but it still didn't seem as good as Mashiro and Takagi were making it out to be.
Though, what can you expect from a manga inside a manga? :P

Damn, I wonder if at the end of Bakuman the author would conduct a poll to see what mangas he should do one-shots for. Some of these concepts are excellent.

Mashiro got really hung up on whether it's Jump material or not, eh. It wasn't a bad concept though, even if the ending needs revision. Having the protagonists struggle on and then still die in the end is just too bleak. Can't wait to see this Ashirogi Jr. entering the stage.

The new chapter of bakuman though it still raw so I'm not sure. It shows the one who created the manga which they think is good. The first impression I got on that guy is ..... what the heck is Battler Ushiromiya doing in bakuman.

This new guy is bad news. He pretends to be an innocent airhead but he's got it all planned out. Theoretically he should be under some contract or NDA relating to the contest submission at this point - otherwise the editorial department is too lax in their approach to business (and he within his rights to publish it online, although the part about mentioning the contest results before they are published is definitely over the line). He'll still get off the hook with a slap on the wrist though since they want to serialize him. But it's great seeing stuff about Internet distribution channels in Bakuman.
