You're misunderstanding. How many chicks fall for him is irrelevant, what I don't wish for is that the author establishes a rule where every woman Soma defeats in a cooking duel shall crush on him. As long as it won't follow that trend it's fine.

Though to be fair, Alice is a very entertaining, which is why people want her to fall for Soma and not the "every woman Soma defeats in a cooking duel shall crush on him" thing.

Well so far it's only been Nikumi that has been defeated at a cooking duel which eventually lead to a crush. So it's not really a "trend".

Also agree it feels as if it will most likely a one heroine route ending in this case Erina. The issue with this is we only get partial background info on the main heroine. Most likely after this whole tournament which leads to one person joining the elite ten (side note doesn't this mean one of the current members is leaving or is it just vacant?) either way I doubt if Souma does come out top he will just stop at taking the 10th seat rather he will challenge the glasses member of the elite ten < would prefer he did this.
After this tournament I am guessing there is more of a chance for interactions between Souma and Erina.

WSJ is meritocracy, its based on the questionaries ranks, so I don't think they'll singehandedly axe a series if it's doing good in the rank or tankoubon.

No, it's more like the winner or contestants that do great in the tournament is the successors to the current top 10. It's not like the winner will instantly became the elite 10.

I find it great that Senzaemon was the one who explained the difference to Alice. This is the first time we got THE food authority (or Culinary Demon King, if you will) in Japan explain the deciding factor. It's like nobody would dare to counter his reasons.

That, and the massive paintbrush scene was my favorite part of the chapter because of the sheer HAM. The, "Nuun! NUWOOOOOOH!!!!" battle-cry had me grinning from ear-to-ear!

It's different in my case. My mom's so frustratingly experienced at cooking to the point that she can successfully wing recipes (and non-recipes) that she hasn't even tried yet. I have yet to beat her in making the same dish.

I'm not sure where I stand here. I kind of want Alice to have a grudging admiration towards Souma without the obvious attraction. I would loathe for her to lose the fun and chummy behavior just because of a crush. That's one of her best character traits.

I think that's not the problem. She can be both attracted and chummy.

True, however, this manga isn't solely shounen, consider the whole fanservice we get. I've feeling like this going to turn into another harem, just like Harem time and Menkui. You can say the author has "harem" rooted inside him

Well, don't forget one important thing, he's the artist not the author for this series. So it's still pretty blurry at this moment. Then again, personally I like the ending where everyone is happy, you know what I meant.

The thing is that the main goal of this series is to get a Girlfriend. The best way to improve his cooking according to his father is to get a girlfriend.
