Scheduled forum downtime (February 19/20, 2012)
The datacenter where our forum server is located wants to physically move our server to a different location (in the same datacenter) on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at around ~11:00 pm PST (their local time). This is Monday, February 20, 2012 at around ~8:00 am CET (European time).
While the server is being moved (physically) the forum will obviously down. I do not know how long the downtime will last: if they just move our server it could take just a few minutes, if they move a few in a batch it could take up to an hour (though I presume they'll try to keep downtime to a minimum). It is possible there may be technical issues after the server has been moved and needs to boot up again, which may extend the downtime. Hopefully everything will go without a hitch though. My apologies for the inconvenience (though I'd presume this won't impact most of you that are in USA/Canada/etc at least). Last edited by GHDpro; 2012-02-20 at 01:14. |

Just curious, was there supposed to be a second downtime? Last night (or rather, this morning?), I couldn't access the forum with a notice that it's checking something. I can't really remember now. And that's after GHDpro posted that it's already done.

Basically I noticed after the move that replication was broken on the server used for backups (by doing this on a "slave" server the main forum server isn't impacted negatively during the backup), so I had to make a fresh database backup on the main forum server. |

If the downtime was only three minutes then I don't think many people would have noticed. I just hope no one was in the middle of typing a big post when the server went down. Nothing more annoying than that. Thanks for the heads up to the AnimeSuki staff; very professional to keep us informed.
