I'm trying to get into this and give it a chance because it has some nice visuals and character designs and my favorite twintails, but the 180 degree shifts on the characters, first Kotori, then Touka, rather than being funny, they make it jarringly annoying to me. T_T
Two words come to my mind after the 2 episodes, "messy" + "nonsensical".
Think I'm going to give it one more episode.

Incidentally, after seeing the "choices" thing, I just got wind of another title "俺の脳内選択肢が、学園ラブコメを全力で邪魔している" ("The choices in my head are hampering my school love comedy in full force") which also features choices (apparently fixed choices that are equally bad ), but it seems more interesting than Date-A-Live.

I don't understand how it's hard to understand Tohka's change in personality. It's not really a change. For a very long time, every time she wakes up, people tried to kill her. She ends up putting up a "barrier" around herself and does not trust people. Now that he shows up and is the first to try to talk and understand her, her real personality shows through. Not non-sensical. Kotori however does have her reason and since you have not read the LN yet, yes it does seem odd. The whole personality "switch" of Kotori itself is meant to be a bit funny although it will be explained later. Tohka however was never meant to be funny but more about the situation on the Spirit side instead of the human (human views spirits as walking destruction).

EDIT: Actually larethian, since you do read light novels, you should really try reading volume 1. There are some little details that are not animated here which is a shame but time constraints... makes me worry whenever I thought about the chance of Madan no Ou to Vanadis and Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei being animated.

EDIT2: Actually,

Shidou have a rather easy time getting on friendly terms with her as he is the first one to try and talk to her.

Origami >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tohka. Reasons :

1. Flat chest is a status symbol; there is no need for big boobs.
2. Black ponytail is overrated. Short, neat bobcut is cuter.
3. Tohka can bomb you only twice. Origami can bomb you infinitely with her gatling guns, cannons and missiles.

You do realize that someone can easily reverse all those reasons, right?

Example:

Tohka>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Origami. Reasons :
  1. Big boobs is a status symbol; there is no need for flat chest.
  2. Short Neat bobcut is overrated. Black ponytail is cuter.
  3. Origami is limited by bullets and needs to carry a big gun. Tohka can shoot you infinitely with just her finger.

OMG! Part with the teacher was slightly disturbing.
His "make-them-fall-in-love-with-you" training was just LOL
Shido's sister certainly has some interesting plans for him.
This really felt like a visual novel ^^
I do like her new name - Tohka.
It's like watching anime & someone play a visual novel at the same time.
Don't know why, but I really like this one.

For Ep 2, It would have been funnier if Shidou commented about the Experts' experiences.

Read: If I were him, I would have given up.

I think that is stretching too much since, in Indonesian, “mahal” -> expensive and “kita” -> we or us.

So it’s just two random words in Indonesian. Unless you’re saying that “something that belong to us is more expensive compared to *insert object*”, other than that, you can’t exactly use “mahal kita” in common conversation.

I dunno...
Given our nation's creativity in creating slang words and shortening them, it only takes some famous people to use it on advertising, and boom, suddenly it's a common word...

Back to topic...
On what time does Nico2 version air?

Does anyone find the "baka, ba-ka" line kinda forced? Reminds me of that idiotic, big boobed angel in Otoshimono

Yeah, that's a really bad habit.

Back to topic:
I find it hilarious that after so much effort is spent and Kotori being smart-ass about dating-method, almost all her (and her crew's) suggestions backfired and producing the opposite effect . It becomes very effective when the male MC (his name escapes me) just act like himself.

I kinda feel it too, but maybe a part of it is due to Tohka's sudden change in mood from being defensive and aggressive into tsun-tsun and dere-dere .

It's not forced !!!
It's the most beautiful sound Tohka has spoken beside "Date! Date! Date!" in this episode...
