Best girl died in the first episode
I really wasn't expecting it, especially since the title of the episode used plural. Promising start otherwise. The MC is a bit too young but it can still work.

Honestly that was a really solid first episode. I like the (living) father and daughter pair with names that I'll never remember how to spell properly. Seriously why did the living pair get the incomprehensible names but the ones with easy ones go out like that? Oh well. In terms of characters I think they made the right choice for the survivors here.
The mix is pretty good here. A brilliant kid with a strange connection to a place that keeps appearing in her dreams. Already clearing college level and creating things that have helped her father at work nicely. But at least until this point she was very focused on the whole romance of adventure. Although that definitely took a hit with the traumatic results we just saw here. The dad is perfectly fine too. Clearly was good at the whole marker thing before stepping away to raise his kid. There was the shot fired that his wife left him, but...in this kind of thing I'd think it's more likely she went missing while being a fellow marker or just straight up died. Guy just doesn't want his kid getting hurt or killed which makes sense since she is still 9 years old. But at least he realized at the end that there was no avoiding this. Walsh and Lynda were nice enough. Walsh being a friend that could be related to in actually working with his daughter out in that dangerous field. Certainly offered good advice as well that was useful in the end. Lynda wasn't a bad person. Although she did fire up that kid's desire for adventure. I think she only truly realized how dangerous that could be near the end. That when push came to shove she'd have to tell her to stay back and out of it. Partnership didn't quite hold up in a crisis. It's too bad she went out the way she did with Walsh. But...at least she likely died instantly so there was no time to think about it. Pretty good start for the show in all honestly. I can't wait to see how things unfold from here.

I have tried to watch episode two this morning on four different platforms Crunchyroll supports -- PC, Roku, PS4, and Android app. In all cases the subtitles are running a second or two behind the on-screen action. Just me, or true for others?

I do wonder whether or not Gagumber will survive this journey. The only thing that makes me think he will is that he himself seems to be prepared to die during it. Already trying to get his daughter to prepare herself for him not making it to the end. I guess we'll see. He could very well die and she'd have to manage the end herself. Or this father/daughter team will get through the whole journey and see what it all means.
The focus on them getting through this situation was fun. They both bring something to the table here. Gagumber's experience as a marker and his skills are going to be necessary. No doubt that his wife was the one originally behind him in the other seat. At the same time Memenpuu's brains and guts definitely help out. Without her able to plan things out in a bold manner they wouldn't have survived. That makes me want to see them both survive this journey.
