Am a lurker on this board but am definitely looking forward to this final episode though with a bit of trepidation as to how it will end. *keeps fingers crossed*

Anyway, saw a short description of the ep on the KBS Kyoto website. Seems that...

But it looks like they didn't explain the Mari thing >.> they might have though and I may have just missed it I guess.
The revealing of Ekaril was done well, and Azanael survived, somehow.
I'm glad in a way that they did the same scene from the manga, of the Arume falling from the sky and blowing up, looked good the way they did it but...what happened to Ekaril? I presume she's dead even though we dont see her actually die die.
The woman at the end...I heard Kouzaki being said but I thought it was probably Mari because of the script she was holding, and the people escorting her are Tsubael and Azanael?

Mari and Hagino didn't end up together not in life nor in death... Theres always that emiru force possibility....naah, their not gonna have any OVA-s with Hagino alive.damn

after watching it myself..., it was a teary ending for me. It's good, very good imo, but they should have made Hagino little bit more selfish, would have been alive probably. And thats kozuki in the end there, holding the same script she was holding the whole episode.

Well it's probably me clinging to absolutely anything - but unless I see a complete rounded off dead, then I will always consider there to be 'a chance'. Afterall many people thought Azanael was definitely dead in episode 12, but that didn't end up being the case.

I've not seen this episode yet though, so I won't say anything too strongly. The ending already sounds (and looks on caps) a little ambiguous - it sort of looks like BLUE does a 'shift'...

I haven't seen the ep yet (still downloading), but this seems like a very very VERY long shot to me.

Well I'd like to think that somehow she managed to survive, for me i'll probably always think of ep 12 as a sorta final episode. I've rewatched it a few times now and I still can't figure out if the woman in the ship is Michi or Mari, whoever it is I find it interesting that they are carrying round the script for the play after so long, I mean your a member of the UN and going to meet aliens and you bring that?

I think for sure i'll be buying the DVD's

I feel sorry for the poor Mari who was left behind. Could someone tell me what she exactly do 30 years after in this ship? Is she a kind of negociator with the Arume? (just an impression I had...)

The only thing I am disappointed with is the crappy ship design of the invading fleet.. That is NOT what they look like.

Saw it. I don't have understood well but I haven't seen Tsubael and Azanael anywhere in the negotiations.
And it surprised me that Mari, in the very end, is too calm while seeing the explosion between Blue and the mother ship. And what's the meaning of the two birds before the collision between Blue and the mother ship?

this ending is worse then ttgl for me, maybe l should go into denial and pretend blue drop was a 12 ep series instead. >.<

Ah well, the bittersweet "must go on ending" Recently those have become really popular.. (thinks about Gurren Lagan, Witch Hunter etc.).
I think it wasn't a bad series, but I felt the last episodes too rushed, the exact incident and what happened to Mari (and why did she glow in the 1st episode, some sort of power from the arume?) and other things weren't answered. Watching how Hagino drives the blue into the other ship in the end isn't also satisfying (no way she survived that).
This show definitely is heavy on dialogues and uses them as main source to show us Maris and Haginos relationship.
But I have to admit, half of the episodes were nice to me, the other half were just boring..
Btw, the fighting in the end, it really shows that this show is from Gonzo, dunno who of you watched Yukikaze, but they used exact the same animation style for the air fighting here.

Ah well, another show with a bad/ bittersweet ending (don't tell me any shit like it's good, Hagino is DEAD!). I think I'll watch a bit of Minami-ke now and read my Aqua manga.

Azanael's craft was escorting the negotiators, and we can hear a conversation between Azanael and Tsubael. And I think that's not Mari. I think Tsubael calls her Kouzuki (Micchi).

Oh its not so bad... I mean it's better than a lot of other anime endings.. you have to admit that. I mean thankfully it's not as bad as Yumeria.

Personally, I like the ending because it is open-ended.. we are not 100% sure Ekaril is dead (she could have ejected at the last moment). Since Mari is not present in the final ending.. only one can imagine where she is.

Okay, seen it after all...

...and tell me what you want, I think the ending was excellent. Very fitting. And also, very touching, particularly the "parting" scene when Blue took off. *sniffles*

Let's not be fooling ourselves, Hagino is dead. She knew what she was doing when she was jettisoning Tsubael in the escape capsule. And the explosion of the Novaal didn't happen because Blue was shifting away one more time. Look at it this way: Ultimately, she succeeded. Her goal was to protect Mari, and she did that in the end. She even got some kind of revenge, too (even though this was never her driving motive - but she did Azanael a favor).

Cute bonus points for hand-holding Mari and Hagino. Hagino's exit was also cutely done, as was Micchi's spirited defense of her against the immediate suspicions of the fan triplet that she must have been a spy. The strongest part however was the tear-milking farewell scene with Mari shouting her play lines, and Hagino gritting her teeth and following through with what she had to do, watching via seagull drone. If a show manages to pull something like this off without coming over as "fake", it's a commendable achievement.

All things considered, a show which I liked _very_ much, and which I might pick up as a DVD project if I can get decent TLs from somewhere.

Menty verdict: B+

There's a good chance that she is alive. She wouldn't leave Mari that easily. I also highly doubt the commander's chair wouldn't have an ejection mechanism.

Infact the final is undoubtedly very ambiguous. It's open to any interpretations and for an eventual sequel. In any case it is a very well done episode.

I will definitely buy the DVDs.
