I don't get the "Christian" genre. It amuses me a little bit that there are bands out there that are Christian Rap and Christian Punk but I really am annoyed at religion getting in the way of music. Have your songs include messages but don't make them relgion oriented.

Metal ftw \m/,
I mostly listen to Metal (all genres except Speed, death and black -> if there are lyrics to the song I want to be able to understand them andI don't want to hear just nonsense screaming...) Other than that Rock and everything that is as far away from HipHop and Rap as possible =)

I've mentioned once in the past that I like Rock a lot. That's still the case but between then and now I've come to some realizations about Japanese Rock itself.
The rock songs that I hear as the themes for a lot of animes are surprisingly good in comparison to ones from English-speaking bands (generally from either the U.K., or the U.S.). As far as lyrics, beat, and style goes at least. Actually the saddest part is (yeah, this is where I've been going with what I've been saying... Don't sit down yet) that personally I'm starting to prefer Japanese bands and their rock over everything else. I guess it's because after all those years of Rock music you tend to realize that there's a lot of repetition.

In terms of music, I started out liking hip hop and rap. As I got older, I became more open minded about other kinds of music. Eventually, I got into rock and heavy metal. Later on, I went on to R&B, pop, techno, and little bit of jazz. As of right now, my favorite genre has to be alternative. It doesn't really matter to me whether it's alternative hip hop or alternative rock. As a fusion genre, they both bring out the best qualities out each genre to combine into a different kind of beat and rhythm. It's almost like two opposites coming together and uniting as one.

I'm more attuned to metal, though I'll listen to most any kind of rock music, such as hard rock, classic rock, alternative rock, and prog rock...I actually hate labeling my tastes by genre, since genre is too broad when bands can cover so many aspects, but rather label my tastes by band...
I can't narrow my tastes down to any single band, since I just like a whole lot of stuff, though this is an example of what I've been listening to a lot lately... The Haunted Dark Tranquility Metallica Linkin Park Velvet Revolver Trivium Chevelle Maximum The Hormone Atreyu Dark New Day Tool

I listen to everything from Beethoven to Slipknot to Miles Davis to The Blood Brothers to Aphex Twin. I just like whatever's good and try not to be biased. I don't care if a song is mainstream, and made by some pop nobody. If it's a good song, I like it and that's it. |
