I don't really see it as an asspull, Gray's been an ice make specialist for years, it's logical to be at that level. Add constant sparring with Natsu and you got yourself the current Gray Hat steal=win. I'm glad the last chapter I'll be reading was a good one^^

Gray won without Nakama Power-Up! Ur's Molding Magic is the strongest. Well looks like after Rufus its Lyon's turn to fight Gray not to mention Both Ur's student.

I am the bone of my sword.
I am the shield of my guild, and ICE is my magic.
I have created over a thousand ICE blades.
Unaware of my Clothes.
Nor aware of being naked.
Withstood the flame to create many ICE weapons.
Waiting for one's arrival.
Yet, those MEMORIES will never hold anything.
So I chant "Unlimited Ice Make"

Memory fire vs Natsu fire not a fair comparison. Striping was the key to victory... Juvia has chosen the right man.

I'm happy for the man that Julia girl chose, but I'm glad Juvia got to see Gray kick ass like always.

yawn, we need a fairy tail manga edition with all the boring fights cut maybe just keep first and last page as the rest is so boring. i can't wait till the plot starts it and the fanservice are the only bits worth reading.

I liked Rufus magic, to be honest with his powers he should have preformed much better than he did.

But Gray's victory was beautiful.

Yeah, I kept thinking "You just have to show off don't you" at Rufus when he doesn't take the initiative and kept trying to steal Gray's moves. Gray would have had a much harder time if Rufus weren't such a smug, but I guess that's typical for users with that kind of special gimmick. You showed him good, Gray

All I can say is, wonderful magic, awful user

Quick, intense, just what a high level fight should be. Fights that take 20 minutes, 20 chapters, or 20 episodes just aren't cool anymore. :P

The longer the fight dragged out, the worse of a position Gray would have been in so he had to end it quickly. Ultear would have approved of her 'younger brother's' strategy. Rufus was such a hax fighter, he got lazy. Sure, he is strong, but over-confidence is a strong fighter's worst weakness.

And more serious Mavis~! <3

Made me think of when Erza created like 200 swords to stop Laxus Lachryma things in the sky.

Would be neat to see something like that happen again to see how many orbs each guild member would be able to blast out of the sky now.

But yea totally agree that Fairy Tail does their battles right. Not saying they are greatly done all the time, but their TIME is done well. We are never sitting around waiting through half a year of weekly manga chapters to see a battle end. Most battles take only one chapter and its done.

Very realistic. No battle should take super ass long. That's not how fights go, especially the stronger the fighters.

In the real world, most fights are settled fairly fast. Even the samurai sword fights of long ago, were relatively quick affairs; Once someone got a leg slash or an arm slash, it was all downhill.

Anyway, fairly awesome for Gray; he needed this comeback win, and despite it being telegraphed as a win (obviously cliche), it does make sense. Rufus has a more general MAKE magic, and Gray is specific. It makes sense that a specific user is faster than a jack of all trades. And Gray is more used to Natsu's flames, so a pale imitation is no problem. All in all, good fight.

Now, as for the next chapter, something about wolves? Who could that refer to?

That's what's so awesome about FT. It follows shounen logic but isn't afraid to quick-paced unlike the big 3. Those 10+ chapter fights gets on my nerves.

I gonna see if I can do something like that for my organic chemistry exam tmr.
Hopefully my instructor can channel her inner loli be forgiving like the adorable Master Mavis.

^^ So it's not just Erza who's been ripping off UBW.
Now Gray got a version of it too.
Hat-stealing ftw!

Anyone else think of guild wars 2 on the last page.

Felt like I just finished my first dungeon and was rewarded with a pimp ass hat, and threw it on my character.

Funny you should mention that

I am the bone of my sword.
FORGED from my body, as ICE is my blood.
I have created over a thousand WEAPONS.
Unknown to Death, Nor known to Life.
Have withstood pain to create this many SWORDS.
YET, IN AN INSTANT YOU WILL NOT REMEMBER ANYTHING.
So as I pray, UNLIMITED ICE MAKE...

I know this is a sudden change in topic, and it may seem weird bringing it up now, but it's been clawing at my mind for the longest time:

Just who is Mato, really? (Mr. Pumpkin)

He's the first of three masked characters introduced this arc (the others being that Blue Pegasus bunny and Raven Tail's Alexei), yet he's also the only one to not have his true identity revealed. Well, I've had my thoughts for a while, but tonight he's finally having a speaking role in animated form, and depending on who they get to voice him, it may support or disprove my suspicions.

The most common theory I've seen is that he's actually the king. They're both short, and while we know the king has been watching the games, the only day we've actually seen him watching was the one day that Mato wasn't working.
