Pleased with her acceptance, the older man turned his attention to the mostly complete papers on his desk that would make the promotion official. Since his attention was on his desk, he almost jumped out of his chair as a pair of slender arms wrapped around him from his side.

"Thank you, Uncle Gil!"

He watched as the blond almost skipped out of his office with a smile on his face. His gazed remained on the closed door for a moment before the smile faded. A press of a button re-activated his computer screen. The latest reports from the data recovered from their old Advance Labs by the recon team were still open. While he wasn't a scientists, the information did not look good. Also the pictures taken of the Plymouth recon group made the situation even more complicated. Gil leaned back in his chair and rubbed his forehead, hoping that Fate wouldn't hate him for the situation he had just thrown her into.

The rest of the day seemed to pass by at a snail's pace. Every time the lab doors opened Fate would look over, hoping it was the delivery of her new Savant computer. These computers were top of the line systems developed from the computer systems of the Arthas and then expanded upon. Thanks to the bio-research that was conducted the once silicon-based systems were upgraded with bio-systems. Not only did it make creating the computers easier due to the lack of silicon that could be produced on their new world but it also greatly increased their abilities. So much so that the fourth generation and up possessed an artificial intelligence. The original bulkiness of the design was also removed. Current seventh and eighth generation system were housed in a portable, square unit less than a meter on each side. While they weren't completely self-sustained, their internal power storage allowed them to run for up to three days at minimal function before needing to be attached to a power source. What also made Savant computers so desirable were their ability to remotely access the colony's data network as well as operate a vehicle. This made them invaluable for off-site research projects.

When her work shift came to an end, she was still anxious about receiving her Savant computer. She headed straight back to her small room that she shared with her mother to see if it had been delivered there. While she knew they just wouldn't leave something like that laying in front of her door, a small part of her hoped to find the computer sitting by her door when she got there. Arriving at her door she didn't find a computer but inside she did find a letter in the mail drop detailing her new security clearance. Usually such an upgrade would take several days but it would appear Uncle Gil pulled some strings to get it all cleared. She glanced at her clock and decided to wait on dinner to avoid the bulk of the crowd. Instead she opted to take a shower and hope that her computer would arrive when she was done.

As luck would or would not have it, someone was knocking on her door just as she stepped out of the shower. "Ah, one moment! I'll be right there."

She hastily dried herself and wrapped a towel around her still wet hair. A shirt and pants were thrown on before she opened the door.

"Delivery for Fate Testarossa."

"That's me."

"I need to see your ID for clarification and clearance." Fate fumbled through her discarded lab coat and produced the needed piece of plastic. It was passed through a scanner which beeped in confirmation. "Alright, just need you to press your thumb here and then sign."

After her thumbprint and signature was verified the cart that was sitting outside her door was unlocked and a familiar black box was handed over to her. She gave her thanks and closed the door, practically running over to set it down on her bed. A quick glance over showed it to be like the other Savant computers she had seen before. This one had a yellow, stylized lightning bolt rotating on the front display. Each Savant computer had a unique icon to distinguish it from others since their frames were all the same. Some people have even said you could tell how it was 'feeling' based on how the icon changed. Now that she had her own she was curious to see if it was true. However right now she was preoccupied with figuring out how to activate it. The icon was slowly spinning which meant it was operational but there were really no buttons other than ports to plug in devices or power.

"Greetings, sir. I am Savant Computer CVK-792-BA. You may call me Bardiche."

To tell the truth, I have always liked more serious, real and you can say professional stories. It's because there are two literary works that at some point of time I knew by heart. It's Tolkien's Lord of the Ring trilogi and Sapkowski's Wiedźmin. And when I read fanfiction I subconsciously seek for one closest to my ideal. I know that nowadays I look mainly for yuri fanfictions, but even so I could state a lot of examples of stories, that I belive are the best in its way of telling the story to the others, or, probably more importantly how these stories touches my frozen heart. In Negima, where I belive only in KonoSetsu it is Trial by Heart and in MSLN its Saved by the Bell. They art forever written in my heart and I doubt I can ever forget them. And PS!Vivio should the quallity remain same or better than second half probably becomes one of them, like story of two girls, both on the edge of the society, one mainly because of her job and the ither because of the relationship she shared, probably shares and hopefully is going to share in future. I just hope this will meet my expectations.
BTW Where is Syn's face on your signature? I may be blind but I don't see it anywrehe...

Nanoha Takamachi stared.

And stared...and stared.

The Ace of Aces, the White Devil of the TSAB, was powerless against the barrier separating her from her best friend. Of all the obstacles she had overcome no one would have guessed that a single plane of glass would be the thing to subdue her.

Behind her, Hayate closely watched her friend. "Nanoha..."

"Why, Hayate? Tell me why did this have to happen?"

To those who did not know them it would seem to be a normal conversation. However those who did know them would be able to tell the severity of it all from the lack of honorfics from each others' names. Hayate had no answer to give as she placed a hand gently on her friend's shoulder and followed her gaze beyond the glass. Before them their friend Fate lay motionless. A wide array of machines were hooked up to her to monitor her vitals. No one but the doctors were allowed into the room. Even then they had to wear full protective suits for their own safety. Given the situation none of the doctors were forced to take the case but a few stepped forward even though there was a chance they, too, would become quarantined.

It had all started a week ago. Fate had come to this very hospital for a routine checkup and some booster shots due to her frequent off-world assignments. Everything was going fine until she headed out to leave. For no reason she collapsed in the hallway and stopped breathing. She was rushed to the ER and it took several jolts from a defibrillator to get her heart started again. Unable to breath for herself, she was hooked up to a life support machine as doctors scrambled to figure out what was wrong with her. The TSAB launched a full investigation and had every doctor, nurse, and worker interrogated. When they got to the male nurse who had administered her booster shots, he began ranting about her inevitable doom. He was quickly subdued but before they would interrogate him he bit down and cracked two fake teeth in his mouth. The poison that was released killed him almost instantly, preventing anyone from getting any information out of him.

Fate was quickly put into quarantine with anyone who had contact with her since her collapse getting a full checkup and blood work as a precaution. The used needles and syringes from the room were tested but the one that had administered the unknown substance was missing, probably destroyed right after by the suspect. All current tests proved inconclusive. Blood samples were sent out under close supervision to the best labs on various TSAB worlds in hopes that the cause would be discovered in time. Until then the young mage's life hung in the balance. As her organs began to shut down one by one, she soon became completely reliant on the machines for her survival.

Nanoha pressed her hand against the cold glass. "Has there been any word yet?"

"No one's found out anything yet."

Several inter-dimensional terrorist groups had claimed responsibility for the incident from those against artificial mages to anti-TSAB. Most were only making claims in hopes of pushing their cause and increasing their popularity. Many were detained in connection to the various groups but no concrete connections were made. The investigations continued for several months, but the perpetrators were never found. It would be almost a month after her collapse that the off-world tests would yield fruit...a week too late. More testing would find that she had been injected with a complex virus engineered to kill by shutting down the internal organs and preventing cell reproduction. It was also designed to specifically kill one person. The hospital records were put under the microscope and well hidden evidence of a hacker came to light. While no harm was done, all medical records for Fate were copied several months prior to the incident. Whoever had orchestrated the attack had focused on her long ago.

The weeks after were hard on everyone, especially Nanoha. She had all her off-world privileges removed after two attempts to hunt down the perpetrators herself. Unable to leave Mid Childa, she spiraled into depression and sought refuge in drinking. Her friends tried to keep the soothing liquids away from her but she always found a way to acquire some. This was the one time they wished she wouldn't be so stubborn on what she wanted. They lost track of the number of times they had to bring her to the hospital, several times having alcohol poisoning.

It would continue for several months. One day Hayate was checking in on her and had brought the then eight year-old Vivio with her. Since Nanoha's decent Vivio had taken up residence with Hayate and the Wolkenritter. She would occasionally venture with Hayate to see her mother, but this time was different. The sight of empty bottles strewn around the apartment was not unusual nor was the stench. Nanoha was on the couch, open bottle in hand and unmoving. As usually Hayate began to pick up the discarded bottles. A loud slapping sound caught her attention. Whipping her head around, she saw Nanoha's head turn to the side, check bright red and a tearing Vivio staring down at her. Before either could do anything Vivio ran from the room. Given the situation none of the doctors were forced to take the case but a few stepped forward even though there was a chance they, too, would become quarantined.

It had all started a week ago. Fate had come to this very hospital for a routine checkup and some booster shots due to her frequent off-world assignments. Everything was going fine until she headed out to leave. For no reason she collapsed in the hallway and stopped breathing. She was rushed to the ER and it took several jolts from a defibrillator to get her heart started again. Unable to breath for herself, she was hooked up to a life support machine as doctors scrambled to figure out what was wrong with her. The TSAB launched a full investigation and had every doctor, nurse, and worker interrogated. When they got to the male nurse who had administered her booster shots, he began ranting about her inevitable doom. He was quickly subdued but before they would interrogate him he bit down and cracked two fake teeth in his mouth. The poison that was released killed him almost instantly, preventing anyone from getting any information out of him.

Fate was quickly put into quarantine with anyone who had contact with her since her collapse getting a full checkup and blood work as a precaution. The used needles and syringes from the room were tested but the one that had administered the unknown substance was missing, probably destroyed right after by the suspect. All current tests proved inconclusive. Blood samples were sent out under close supervision to the best labs on various TSAB worlds in hopes that the cause would be discovered in time. Until then the young mage's life hung in the balance. As her organs began to shut down one by one, she soon became completely reliant on the machines for her survival.

Nanoha pressed her hand against the cold glass. "Has there been any word yet?"

"No one's found out anything yet."

Several inter-dimensional terrorist groups had claimed responsibility for the incident from those against artificial mages to anti-TSAB. Most were only making claims in hopes of pushing their cause and increasing their popularity. Many were detained in connection to the various groups but no concrete connections were made. The investigations continued for several months, but the perpetrators were never found. It would be almost a month after her collapse that the off-world tests would yield fruit...a week too late. More testing would find that she had been injected with a complex virus engineered to kill by shutting down the internal organs and preventing cell reproduction. It was also designed to specifically kill one person. The hospital records were put under the microscope and well hidden evidence of a hacker came to light. While no harm was done, all medical records for Fate were copied several months prior to the incident. Whoever had orchestrated the attack had focused on her long ago.

The weeks after were hard on everyone, especially Nanoha. She had all her off-world privileges removed after two attempts to hunt down the perpetrators herself. Unable to leave Mid Childa, she spiraled into depression and sought refuge in drinking. Her friends tried to keep the soothing liquids away from her but she always found a way to acquire some. This was the one time they wished she wouldn't be so stubborn on what she wanted. They lost track of the number of times they had to bring her to the hospital, several times having alcohol poisoning.

Funny, I don't ship Vivio x Syn. But honestly, I think that's more because I was ignorant of the fandom at the time and wasn't completely familiar with her character save a few one-shots by Satashi, so I never got into it...

I'd love to continue my Vivio x Lutecia series, but right now I'm not sure if it's better to end it where it's at. I don't want to take it so far that it dries up or gets totally crazy; honestly, the only other storyline I have left for a one-shot format is either Nanoha confronting Lutecia about her intentions for Vivio or the two having to deal with the fact that Vivio won't be "legal" for another 3 years...

Counterpart to PS!Vivio? Really? I never thought of it that way.

That might be an intresting idea, (some Fanartist seem to think so too)... though it might be a bit tough to "steer" Caro away from Erio/Elio in a believable manner... but given the great talent of the people here... it seems quite likely that such a story might be written. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing some LoliVivioxLoliVita (ViVi)

"Thank you, Uncle Gil!"

He watched as the blond almost skipped out of his office with a smile on his face. His gazed remained on the closed door for a moment before the smile faded. A press of a button re-activated his computer screen. The latest reports from the data recovered from their old Advance Labs by the recon team were still open. While he wasn't a scientists, the information did not look good. Also the pictures taken of the Plymouth recon group made the situation even more complicated. Gil leaned back in his chair and rubbed his forehead, hoping that Fate wouldn't hate him for the situation he had just thrown her into.

The rest of the day seemed to pass by at a snail's pace. Every time the lab doors opened Fate would look over, hoping it was the delivery of her new Savant computer. These computers were top of the line systems developed from the computer systems of the Arthas and then expanded upon. Thanks to the bio-research that was conducted the once silicon-based systems were upgraded with bio-systems. Not only did it make creating the computers easier due to the lack of silicon that could be produced on their new world but it also greatly increased their abilities. So much so that the fourth generation and up possessed an artificial intelligence. The original bulkiness of the design was also removed. Current seventh and eighth generation system were housed in a portable, square unit less than a meter on each side. While they weren't completely self-sustained, their internal power storage allowed them to run for up to three days at minimal function before needing to be attached to a power source. What also made Savant computers so desirable were their ability to remotely access the colony's data network as well as operate a vehicle. This made them invaluable for off-site research projects.

When her work shift came to an end, she was still anxious about receiving her Savant computer. She headed straight back to her small room that she shared with her mother to see if it had been delivered there. While she knew they just wouldn't leave something like that laying in front of her door, a small part of her hoped to find the computer sitting by her door when she got there. Arriving at her door she didn't find a computer but inside she did find a letter in the mail drop detailing her new security clearance. Usually such an upgrade would take several days but it would appear Uncle Gil pulled some strings to get it all cleared. She glanced at her clock and decided to wait on dinner to avoid the bulk of the crowd. Instead she opted to take a shower and hope that her computer would arrive when she was done.

As luck would or would not have it, someone was knocking on her door just as she stepped out of the shower. "Ah, one moment! I'll be right there."

She hastily dried herself and wrapped a towel around her still wet hair. A shirt and pants were thrown on before she opened the door.

"Delivery for Fate Testarossa."

"I need to see your ID for clarification and clearance." Fate fumbled through her discarded lab coat and produced the needed piece of plastic. It was passed through a scanner which beeped in confirmation. "Alright, just need you to press your thumb here and then sign."

After her thumbprint and signature was verified the cart that was sitting outside her door was unlocked and a familiar black box was handed over to her. She gave her thanks and closed the door, practically running over to set it down on her bed. A quick glance over showed it to be like the other Savant computers she had seen before. This one had a yellow, stylized lightning bolt rotating on the front display. Each Savant computer had a unique icon to distinguish it from others since their frames were all the same. Some people have even said you could tell how it was 'feeling' based on how the icon changed. Now that she had her own she was curious to see if it was true. However right now she was preoccupied with figuring out how to activate it. The icon was slowly spinning which meant it was operational but there were really no buttons other than ports to plug in devices or power.

"Um, hello?"

"Greetings, sir. I am Savant Computer CVK-792-BA. You may call me Bardiche."

I did some research myself with the little time I have atm, and interesting results popped up. 13 is the legal age, but there are a lot of institutions and municipalities that have different rules that bend this law.
THat was just a short scouting of the info though, so there is much more.

According to Wiki the legal age is 13, with some exceptions for things like homosexual love and certain laws...

But since Mid-Childa is really a made up place to begin with, I guess the age of consent all depends on the writer.
