180 is really huge in Asia lol

Guys don't have to be that big and tall to be gar.

Simon is around 170 - 175 and Kamina is around 166 - 170. Cloud Strife is 166.

I can say that even if Kyon-chan wins in Korea (somehow) she's not going to get into the International League (ISML) because she's not been in any anime yet. Unless of course KyoAni does animate her (or maybe cosplays her) in Lucky Star or perhaps the chibi-Haruhi shows.

I think the idea was that Haruki wouldn't have been able to act as big of a dick to everyone around him in grade school/Junior high if he hadn't been bigger than at least most of the kids.

Yep, in episode 24 when Simon 'met' Kamina, Kamina said that it seems that his younger brother, Simon has grown taller than himself. And was presented visually.

I'm not sure if Haruki should be outstanding in this way, as in, his head would be prominent in crowds.

That seems to be a minor point, since Haruki is always doing some wacky thing that draws attention to himself.

I'm just following the way how Haruhi wasn't extremely short for girls or taller than all the girls there.

Its up to you guys, though, I'm mostly fine as long as everyone can settle with something.

But yea, you'd be surprise how short the male leads and main characters are.

Roughly 5'11". That could be tall, considering all age groups (including those born decades and decades ago). However, based on firsthand experience at standing in lines alongside college-aged Korean guys at lunchrooms in recent years, I'd say that's not really all that remarkable a height anymore.

For Asian guys in thus generation, 178 is the new 168. Girls on average still remain petite 150-160 range; but I hear they're 14 is the new 16.
Also, the cast of Slam Dunk are mutant freaks, or Karl Malone got loose in japan at some point.
