Basically yes. This is something the anime has glossed over somewhat. Mages certainly do not consider themselves to be invulnerable. There's an event covered in episode 5 that isn't really explained too well in the anime that gives an example - one team in Tanya's battalion were too by the book (from Tanya's POV). There are situations in which their actions would have been correct but since it didn't apply in this particular battle (because the enemy didn't have anti-aircraft weapons or similar) they were being unnecessarily cautious in practice.

There's more examples given in the novels but since they haven't been referenced I'll ignore them in case they turn out to be spoilers later on.

NUTS screwed up and is pulling an ACTAS, they have fallen behind and will likely have the final episode airing months later. Notice that Long Riders just had its finale aired recently. This is what will happen with Youjo Senki. Just want to give you guys advanced warning.

Sadly the subs at the smoking moment was a bit incorrect. Tanya was not pointing to 'secondhand smoke' actually. ‘分煙’ as in Bun'en, its more like non-smoking area. Tanya wanted to ask for that.

It was nice to see why planes are still a thing with mages flying around using magic explosions and magic homing missles/bullets. Normal mages cannot got that high and they can carry multiple bombs with them so they got advantages which mages don't have. Also nice to see a "real" war as Tanya put it with mages being able to shoot at Tanya's elite mages even if they are at a higher altitude or planes firing from above or mages getting their defense shields exhausted.

Being X was really creepy this time. Guess unlike the church teachings he got no problem using the dead whoever he wants to. Still a cool scene though.

More and more foreign bigshots are shown, guess this means we are getting into the hot phase before the World War begins as the other major powers notice the Empire's struggles even after Dakia's demise and the Entente Alliance being nearly beaten without foreign mages coming to their aid. Colonel Sue was that company leader way back then when Tanya was just a mage observer and freshly promoted 2nd lieutnant. Both came plenty far in their career though I guess if he is up against her, he gonna draw the short stick.

Lolz, Tanya being worried about the smoke from all those heavy smoker high-ups. She's a little growing girl, have some manners, men! XD

Being X is turning the whole world against Tanya so she will have to rely on him more and more. I don't see how that will make her actually believe he is god if she can use her hax with empty prayers though.

This anime almost made me believe that God is actually trolling in world war
once again, Tanya looks so awesome in this episode... I wonder if we could get a timeskip in the future

In the end X was the one behind all of this sudden moves from the enemy countries, isn't that impressive if we take in consideration he's a god but I really wonder what are his real intentions... it feels like there is something behind all of this more than just making Tanya the vessel of his word.

Tanya and her batallion wipe out the enemy again, this time they didn't got an easy time, except Tanya who keeps being the usual mary sue. I just hope some character can go against her that isn't X, instead of being the same unbeatable overpowered main character until the end of the season, is getting repetitive.

Definitely worth the wait.

Episode 6 showed that Tanya's battalion along with herself is capable of carrying the military or at least a good portion of the war. Her abilities and aiming precision combined with tactics makes Tanya a lethal opponent to face off against.

That smoke joke at the end was priceless LOL

The "Any similarity to the real people or events is purely coincidental" the end of the episode just got even more hilariously ironic to anyone with a knowledge of history when I noticed a character named General Kurt von Rudersdorf on the general staff. Obvious reference to real world German General Erich Ludendorff.

The Anime didn't mention it but the battalion got reequipped with new gen Type 97 based on Type 95's research. They are esseentially the cutting edge mages in the world.

The world war is inevitable. God just pull some strings to let the snowball roll faster. And it may be a good thing from what we see in manga

Actually mages could most likely fight the fighter planes with superior movements. But they also had a squad of mages with the planes, that cover each other, much like a standard front and back line situation. This is why they're refer to as bombers.

Basically if a mage targets a slow moving plane, they get hit by nimble mages, but if they fight the nimble mages, they get bombarded by the planes. The altitude problem is only an issue of stamina for mages not a total rout.

Realistically speaking it's 2v1, showing the problem the empire is running into, resources.

Though you would realistically want to diversify your tactics much like what the alliance did with their airplane battalion, in the end they are made differently.

You can't trade a mage for a airplane(pliot) or vice versa. A very real aspect of war, and in fact world war. There is no real way to quickly produce resources to fight battle after battle, and you have to simply do with what you had.

Tanya's wing is bascially an overwhelming force of quality, to fight that quantity.
