Nothing new, if you ask me. Paul/Shinji also had a Torterra along with Ash. That didn't stop him from getting a Turtwig, or his Turtwig from fully evolving. Recently, it was with that ninja boy Sanpei and his 1st stage evolution of Keromatsu. In fact, it goes as far back as Richie having a Pikachu. Just because other trainers or Gym Leaders have the pokemon doesn't mean Ash won't get one.

Watched the Strongest Mega Evolution, and enjoyed the action and pacing the most as well as the depth of the protagonist's character.

It's refreshing to look at a change of pace in the story that doesn't involve Satoshi in anyway, even if it was a special episode.

They even ended the episode on a high note.

Well, Serena's battle performance was lacking after the Syhorn race. If Meowth can easily stop Fokko's hidden power in the fossil pokemon episode, then yeah, Serena needs to start focusing on her battling. I was afraid this would be put off much longer.

Meowth (in general) isn't really a good barometer though, it's more inconsistent than the Pikachu in this series.
I still remember that time when TR Meowth beat Brock's Onix with just its claws and a bucket of water. I'm not even starting with Tyson's.

I just watched the Mega evolution special and that was fantastic. This is the kind of thing I expect from a Pokemon anime as opposed to the regular series. The battles were intense and Alan is a pretty decent character.

Not to mention, the Female Ace Trainer sprite. :3

Plus, that Lysandre cameo at the end. I can't wait until Act II.

You do know that the Mega Evolution special is confirmed to be of the same universe as the regular series... Manon talked about the Garchomp incident and named Satoshi by name.

In any case, Mega Evolution Special part 2 has been announced.

Now I just watched last week's episode and it was pretty great. I liked Serena's rival, I do hope she returns again. When Satoshi ate Serena's food for the Pokemon, I laughed at the serious expression he made only to say that it was great!

I'll watch the latest episode soon.

Sometimes I wish more in game characters would stay with Ash's group permanently during each region. Clair from Johto, Bianca from Unova, and now Korrina from Kalos. Why do they have to stay for a short while?
