Splatoon (Wii U)
Nintendo's brand new IP starring a squid girl in a third-person shooter game where you paint your territory and possibly take on octopuses! Here's the single player campaign trailer they showed yesterday:
And here's the debut trailer they showed in E3: I really hope this succeeds and join Nintendo's large family of recognizable gaming icons.

I was able to get in some matches. The game is pretty good, but my god those controls....I don't play console shooters much, so it felt really awkward. But outside of some connection issues, the lag was pretty much nonexistent. The graphics are great, and it definitely runs smooth. All in all, it was fun.

Yeah, the controls need to get used to, but at least you can switch between stick or gyro aiming/camera control. Kind of wish it had Wii-remote support :/
I find it hilarious if the other team tries to kill people rather than actually trying to win the matches. But the testfire seem to be quite limited, like lack of options to play with friends or different battle mode. I guess since it is/was free it wasn't too bad. Not sure how nintendo managed that, but the netcode seems to be really solid, played with a lot of japanese gamers and didn't noticed any latency effects. |

I learned after the last demo period about the control settings, so I was pretty much stuck with the default controls... it goes without saying that gyro controls are really awful and not intuitive when you still can turn with the right stick....
But yeah, the game is quite fun right from the get go, and I noticed absolutely 0 lag or framerate drop whatsoever.

Hmm, I see. I knew they would include Ika-Musume's costume in it, but I was wondering what most viewers would think when they see it?
Like, "What the heck is Ika-Musume?" So they translated it. But they still wouldn't know where the original source of the costume came from.
