If you want to specify polyandry, then it'd be issaitafuu 一妻多夫, for one wife (issai 一妻), many husbands (tafu 多夫) The Crimson Magic Clan is komazoku 紅魔族 with 紅 being "crimson", ma 魔 being the kanji for "demon, evil spirit" like how majin stands for evil god, and ~zoku 族 being the kanji for "race, tribe". A more literal translation would be "Evil Crimson Race", but that is so chuuni that it doesn't work that well in English. |

Got to say these episodes did warm me up to the Axis Cult. They definitely still have all their issues and that's fair. But it's kind of nice how they did help get Megumin on her way since honestly she was never going to save up enough money working normal jobs. And while their actions were...iffy they did technically save Megumin from a showdown with Arnes. They may be lunatics but they do recognize the demons as their enemies.
They really are everything you'd expect from a group worshiping Aqua. They are messed up, but a whole lot of fun. And their intense lolicon status applies throughout the organization it seems. Megumin putting on quite the show with her next showing of explosion magic. She's almost to her destination. But...her future is nothing like how she is expecting it to be .

Fair point though, and that is why Crimson Magic Clan is a decent localization for 紅魔族 |

I just love the idea that the Crimson Demon Clan would make sure to teach all the phrases that you should avoid in order to not cause any Event Flags...and Megumin basically uses all them, practically daring for something to happen to her and Yunyun on their way to Axel .
The girls are pretty gung-ho about protecting the caravan up until they find out they're fighting giant slimy Earthworms. At least Yunyun is good in a pinch and actually saves the day, numerous times, while Megumin does...nothing. It's nice to see Yunyun get praised and acknowledged for once, even if Megumin is super salty about it . Of course Yunyun being the competent one ends up getting her run ragged because she has to keep helping. Poor girl . I wonder how different things would've been had Megumin and Yunyun formed a party together? Would they have both ended up with Kazuma? Or on their own separate adventures? A part of you just wants to see Yunyun finally get it out and ask her and to see these two continue on forward together even though you know that's not what happens. Although Megumin isn't easy to sincerely ask something of . Arnes is back! With her thighs and butt prominently displayed as ever! And this time she's not taking no for an answer! Especially because Megumin and her entire family basically cheated on her! Never expected a demon to have a pretty solid moral high ground knowing how tricky and duplicitous humans are, but there you go. And then Megumin just has to thank her for buying the bangle that basically screwed her over, making this extremely personal . Megumin continues to be the worst pet owner. Pretty non-plussed when Chomusuke gets kidnapped by giant bats, basically throws her and uses her as a bait to get at Arnes, and is fully prepared to sacrifice her in an explosion. Like, jeez, is Yunyun and Arnes the only ones who actually care about her ? Yunyun so desperate she prays to every single God she can think of. She's even so desperate she'll call on Aqua for help...and as if on cue, it seems like Kazuma and Aqua just arrived in Axel? Just in time to distract Arnes, let Chomusuke bite her, and then let Megumin finish the job with an Explosion . That was a pretty epic finish between Megumin and Arnes' clashing magic, and Arnes goes out on a respectful note...she also blew up good! Though something tells me that's not the end for her... Well, the girls are finally in Axel! Can't wait to see what hijinks will take them next before we reach Konosuba episode 1 ! Quote:

Abandoning Chomusuke to her fate is one thing, but using her as bait fully intending to kill her in order to defeat Arnes is one of the most awful thing Megumin has ever done. She was absolutely not joking either. That shit isn't funny, it's atrocious.

Yunyun is certainly carrying this thing. Both in the show and just in general.
I do think this highlights how essential the Konosuba cast is for Megumin to shine. Kazuma is absolutely scum at times. There are good qualities of course, but him being scum allows Megumin to appear less scummy herself by comparison . In the midst of all that insanity and the huge character flaws every single member of that party has, Megumin looks great and her charms are allowed to shine bright. When the rest of the cast isn't there though...there's just Yunyun. And by comparison Megumin looks like a terrible person. Again, she's not without good qualities. But unfortunately she just looks really bad since there's no one quite on her level in terms of behavior. I mean wow...chucking poor Chomusuke to use as bait for an attack is pretty bad. All the more so after not caring about it being kidnapped by monsters anyways. Really something that they were basically saved by Aqua/Kazuma. Not remotely intentionally, but the summoning sequence got the job done.

The rare time Aqua is actually useful and it's completely unintentional on her part .

Because only Megumin knows that Chomusuke is part of the demon master that Arnes is serving. She benefits whether it lives or dies anyway. To her, sacrificing a demon to to kill another demon is not a hard choice, especially when their own lives were on the line. Arnes was about to kill them too.

I like Megumin and Yunyun as a buddy duo much better than anything in the primary Konosuba series. They should leave them all and go have their own adventures. I'd watch that. |

Thing is that the entire KonoSuba story is one of growth and development. You can show signs of Megumin's good side in a prequel, but you can't have her actually end at a higher point than the low point she's at in the main story's introduction. Thus, you have to start her out in some ways worse than what she already was, or end with some sort of huge crash. In short, of course she's far worse than she is in the main story. This is the story of her improving to that level.

Yunyun may be the voice of reason, but she also actively got in Megumin's way against Arnes, and Megumin had to create an opening to use Explosion on her own. In Kazuma's party, they actively help to create openings for Megumin and Kazuma always reigns her in during encounters to make sure she doesn't waste her one shot. |
