Konomi Suzuki's 9th single "Beat your Heart," will be the opening theme song.

Well, I'll give the series this, it doesn't believe in letting grass grow under your feet.
I feel like we just got tossed into this world and were left to sink or swim. The whole opening section feels like CGI Studio Ghibli. I like that they established the family, and it was pretty cool when they revealed that they were living on an asteroid in the sky. However, the ten year jump was a little confusing and I feel as if we need quite a bit of backstory on what happened in between that time. And can someone give a fill definition as to what is a bubuki and and what is a buranki. The names shouldn't have been so similar. It was a very fast faced opening episode, and I hope we can slow down so we can get a chance to understand what is going on and who all these characters are.

I generally don't like 3D anime, mostly a matter of preference. While this certainly did occasionally look more unnatural to me due to the CG, like certain movements were a little TOO fluid and even, but a lot of my biggest complaints with 90% of CG I've seen is absent. For instance, even in high-budget RPGs, I'll often see a "pat on the head" that instead has the hand waving several inches above the head. Such screw-ups are very frequent and annoyingly ridiculous to me. This one so far doesn't seem to have that problem; characters can make contact with people or their own bodies and actually be believable. Biggest problem was probably the hair. The characters' hair is quite obvious CG, with far too little movement and believable response to changes in the environment. Despite this, a fairly good job on this episode.
Story-wise, it seems a little standard, like many stories I've heard before, but overall there's certainly potential. Besides, I've watched quite a few series that were far more cliché and loved every minute of it. PS, shouldn't this be moved to Current Series by now? |

Of course kids would do exactly what you told them not to..
A bit confusing at first. What an interesting world. Animation is a bit different then what we usually get. Not lacking action. Unusual, intriguing... might give it a try.

Well it was an ok start. Though certainly I hope the MC develops well. Could see him remaining a pretty average individual.
Some interesting moments. Curious what happened to his father and sister. Heck of a contrast though from the early and at the end with Oubu. Some great visuals in that sense. The nice green and peaceful scene when the twins see it and then....that ending. The Oubu utterly stripped down to nothing but the 'bones'. The visuals were the visuals. I'm not a fan of the 3D stuff, but that's what they are going with so will live with it.

I found this to be wonderful.
I don't mind CG, in fact I don't mind any kind of animation as long as the actual content of the product is worth it and this was fabulous. All characters look really great, a really interesting setting and totally awesome action. Undoubtedly most promising anime of the season so far for me. |
