Kamisama Kazoku

Just saw episode 1 of Kamisama Kazoku and found it to be cute and hilarious.

Spoiler for Episode 1:

Interesting setting with a family of gods unpretentiously living in a house in Setagaya (haha, where my parents live also).

You can tell right away where the direction this anime is headed when the theme for the first episode centers on bloomers

The scene where the male teacher wears the bloomers gave me bad vibes from the first two episodes of Inukami!, but I was taken agape when Samatarou's whole family was doing the bloomer cosplay (so much for sacred god factor, sort of like the laid-back fathers from Shuffle!).

In any case, the story centers on the relationship between Samatarou and Tenko, and I found Tenko to be an intriguing character. She's a typical tsundere, literally showing off her steam, while at the same time caring for Samatarou, albeit it from her position as his caretaker and the living-in maid of the Kamisama family.

Koshimizu Ami does a wonderful job voicing Tenma, different from her previous roles as Nina and Tenma (well, at least the names are similar), Kanda Akemi seems stuck to little sister /daughter roles this season, Noto Mamiko is nowhere to be seen yet, and we only get to see a glimpse of Kumiko (Maeda Ai), but Touma Yumi (Urd/Emma) makes up for it with plenty of Misa-nee fanservice.

Episode 2 already has the obligatory pool story, so people may want to consider this as a guilty-pleasure series, although it has a lot of comedic and romatic potential, despite the rather simplied character designs.

So many anime based on light novels are being showed recently, too bad that it has Media factory written all over it.

Episode 01 Screencaps

I really wasn't sure what to expect from the first episode, so what I saw really made a good impression, a great start to the series.

The bloomer scenes were really unexpected and funny, even though I had already heard rumblings of such a scene from my friend who's read the novels. Animation was really good - lots of bright and vivid colors. This is of course the first episode, so I'm guarded when it comes to high production quality, but it's still a plus.

Interesting first episode. Tenko has a pretty cute personality although you can see some Nina and Tenma appear every now and then. Vivid colors, good animation, fun characters(the father and mother are awesome) looks great so far. Hopefully the childhood friend vs the new girl doesn't turn sour and it's well executed. Let's see what a few more eps bring about.

I didn't expect the childhood friend to be the tsundere one though. That makes it even better since I like both of those traits.

Agree with all the positive responses for the first episode of the series. I've been looking forward to this one since March. There hasn't been enough of this kind of series this year. As long as the animation quality doesn't dwindle too much the series should be enjoyable.

This looks promissing, I really dig the character designs. The girl really looks like Yukino from KareKano. Happy to see that so far the show delivers.

Seems that 13-eps series are all the rage lately.

Haven't watched it yet (no sub). Hope a good group picks it up.

Just saw it.... disapointment.
I didn´t really find anything besides pretty colors (How come this looks great, but popular manga series get tight budgets), anyway besides the God twist *explosion in the background*, it´s just the same old 2 girls fight for a stupid dude. I think I´ll watch the pretty colors 2 or 3 more eps. to decide.
With that title I was thinking about it being maybe like KareKano or Mushishi.

The same here too.But that's Studio ADTRW,so that's gonna be mkv.Quite fast compare to the last show they made a filled-sub though.That's good at least all can catch up the show in a considerable amount of time.

Poor Tenko,now she got a rival. Samataro is totally clueless or just ignored about how Tenko feels about him.

the opening and ending were catchy. show seems to have promise. hope the funny stays funny and the service shots stay classy.

Who said this isn't popular?

MF Bunko J is a label that has novels for young men published under it.

Kage Kara Mamoru!, Kamisama Kazoku and Zero no Tsukaima are popular novels that are published under this label.

No, I'm not saying that these novels are popular enough compared to other novels published under other labels, but I'm saying that its popular under this label (MF Bunko J).

And if you are expecting that a novel aimed at young men to be like KareKano, then you are just dreaming.

Really sorry, I don't understand what you mean here. The fact is I still can't read mkv with my mac. I talked about that on the Keroro thread once. Doremi finally started to release in avi and then quit mkv

Just saw the first episode. This one looks like a winner to me. Usually the childhood friend seems to always get the shaft, but Tenko seems to have a chance! Those little chibi avatars they have are way too cute.

The Japanese certainly have a different attitude to religion. "Kamisama" seems to be a widely used character. Although it is more unusual to have a series with focus on his son. I vaguely remember one series from years ago... Hallelujah Boy? where God's teenage son was kinda rebellious and trying to prove himself. It was pretty crazy (miracle: conjure frying pan!) but I only saw a couple episodes. My first thought now was that this might be something like it, but I guess not. Seems more romance oriented.
