Otakon 2023 interview with Shoji Kawamori and Hidetaka Tenjin. They credit the Gaijin Butai team for getting (most) the legal shenanigans resolved.

Nice! I hope that gives Macross Frontier a revival of sorts.

Also, a DVD/BR release of the TV series with subs (and dubs, whatever) hopefully will follow.

Disney+ is the last streaming service I would have guessed to get the license but I'm not going to complain, I'll just use my brother's account haha.

I wonder if all the series will get dubs or just subs.

And of course, Do You Remember Love is one of the very few still blocked. Typical the only one I ever cared about remains jailed.

I'm just glad that they actually acknowledged Macross II enough to stream it instead of keep pretending that it doesn't exist.

Nozomi (now owned by Crunchyroll which is owned by Sony) has the rights for physical release. 7, Frontier and Delta physical release were announced two years ago but no development or updates since.

They were a small company before the buyout so assuming their big owners still left them to their own devices, it will take a long time to get that release with their limited resources.

The big worry I guess for those in the US is some retailers have announced the dropping of physical media sales lately so there is a chance they just quietly cancelled it. Or the project got lost in the ether with the Rightstuf/Crunchyroll/Funimation restructuring within Sony last few years.

Hopefully it still works out though.

From what I've heard they've said at conventions that its still happening but its been a long time now since the merger happened. Crunchyroll did say they'd honor the Kickstarter projects Nozomi was working on at least but that was a while ago now. The Funimation brand is shutting down completely next month so we might get some activity then.
