Rozen Maiden ~Träumend~ (Season 2)

To make it short, I am impressed.
I really like Rozen Maiden and RM Träumend. I liked the ending, the idea, the characters. Overall a real good series.
The funny thing is I didn't even know it existed until something like one week ago. And when I first heared about it I thought that seeing some dolls fighting each other with an Hikikomori as the male lead that this had to be useless and boring. Little did I knew how wrong I was. I nearly stopped sleeping downloading and watching RM and RMT after I saw the first eps.
This is one fine anime.
Too bad it is over already, but on the other hand I never really had to wait for a next week episode.
Guess this will be one of the few anime where I really have to buy the DVDs and OSTs.

And as long as they would keep up the good work (in terms of storyline, music, animation... you get the idea right?) I too would be happy seeing a third season.

I agree with Kuro here. Please don't degenerate Rozen Maiden to harem. It's one of the non-harem shows that are actually good by having memorable characters and great comedy.

But... come to think of it, Jun does *have* a biit too much female influence over him... I honestly haven't seen male characters other than him, as in major roles, not minor ones please .

Actualy, that's what a good deal of Traumend's fans arg going to go do. Take ther boxcutters and go-a-huntin'-for-sum-De-rector.

A reset was pretty much the only way the director could end the arc and still pave the way for another season. Any other method would have prematurely ended the series since one or more dolls would be stiffs...

Also I went over the last conversation again; Jun and Shinku agree they have to take care of the two dead dolls in their living room (korekara seiwa ni naru koto ga ikenai), somehow. She goes on to say that's why Father revived her, so she could find an answer (kaiketsu). Jun replies that they must do so.

Watched Chinese sub of final episode.

Spoiler for Episode 12 impressions and final thoughts:

There are a lot of highs and lows in this episode, from the intense battles between Barasuishou and Shinku, to the "death" of each doll, to the final resurrection. How one assign each event depends on their bias. Nevertheless, it is fervently entertaining, worthy of a climatic final episode. When I saw Shinku "die", I knew, without a doubt in the back of my mind, that it cannot be permanent, that she must come back. A transcendent entity like her cannot (or at least, must not) be extinguished of life. And her life to be taken away by such a sly way/method just isn't deserving of Shinku. She has far greater functions ahead.

With the final episode aired, I am ready to synthesize my final thoughts. Rozen Maiden: Traumend was a continuation of the anime realm with the climax of the relevation there is not just one path to Alice. I guess one could gather the cliché that violence is never the only option. Traumend served a more personal purpose; it provided more information about Shinku. I spend countless hours of my free consciousness pondering about Shinku, in a never-ending effort to increase my understanding of her. Anyways, Traumend was an excellent show, for it benefited from the same strengths that RM season one had. The distinct and charismatic characters that procure our feelings, the battles, the humor, the emotions, and the story intrigue, all excels in this series to entertain us. This is why RM is so successful, and will be successful in future iterations, if it ever happens.

And most important of all is Shinku, who has brought me feelings and joys that I never found in real life or anywhere else in fiction. Every time she smiles my heart experiences a warmth I never experienced in life before. Her elegant way of drinking tea and her air she exudes, is a sight more pleasurable for my eyes than any wonders I’ve seen in on Earth. Her calm voice and words rings angelic to my ears. Other senses are unapproachable outside the realm of my dreams. I realized after much contemplation, I really don’t care if Shinku becomes Alice or not, she is already perfect to me.

So the real Father, Rozen, fixed everyone. And we got a glimpse of the supposely real Barasuishou? ( The eye-patch on her 'right' eye caught my attention immediately. ) If she's the real one, what the heck has she been doing for all this time.... -_-'' Anyway, the last battle between Shinku and Barasuishou was done exceptionally well. A lot of people said Bara was an uninteresting villain. (Well, I have to agree, she was pale in comparison to Suigintou in the first season.) But her voice actress put on such a great great performance in this episode. I was really impressed and enjoying her character. Her last scene with her 'Father' also was pretty touching. Good job! Barasuishou. Not much to say about the other dolls. Aww... Suigintou really has become a softy. And one really should not test Shinku's patience too much, she was the one who avoided the fight for the whole series, then she snapped. That was cool, and funny in a way.

All in all, a highly enjoyable series. No, I wouldn't mind a third season at all. *starts praying, it worked last time!*

I get the impression that Father finally got around to completing Suigintou. Note the slight pause when you see him handling her in the final scene with the other maidens (her thorax). A reward for her compassion for Megu? Well, IMHO she don't have a reason to be in a permanent snit around the other maidens anymore.

Great series. I really do hope for a 3rd season.

My thoughts about the final episode...

A suitable ending to a great season. Neither too cheesy (Mai-Hime) nor too depressing (End of Eva, Ideon). One think I guess no one expected was that Barasuishou was a fake doll, no wonder she had the eye patch on the wrong eye. Anyway it seems that I was correct about Enju not being Rozen. Enju just doesn't seem mysterious enough to be him. Alice didn't appear but at least Shinku is still alive.

Some people seem to be confused on why Hina and Sou are the way they are at the end of the episode.

They both lost to legitimate Rozen Maidens, so they basically lost the Alice Game fairly and did not regain their Roza Mystica. Though why Laplace had it is a mystery to me. Those beaten by Bara, who isn't a Rozen Maiden got their Roza Mysticas back...kind of like a football team losing and the team that beats them gets disqualified after using an illegitimate player so the victory is taken away

Also, as I said before, this series is too popular in Japan to stop at a 3rd season. Even if the studio has to hire another director, they'll do that. It's not the director that controls the series as it goes, especially if they get another director that gets advice on the series from Peach-Pit.

Hell look at Precure. It makes over 50% of Toei's revenue and that series shows no sign of slowing down.
