Heh, I actually linked to the DR IF translation several pages back. But yeah, that was an awesome story. Wouldn't mind seeing that get animated, personally.

I think they should have accounted for Mukuro's tastes for presents during free time. It could have been an alternate route in the game, where you're able to save her if you can prove that you can see through her disguise.

Some characters just don't get enough development in the first game.

Funny you should mention this, because:

This is EXACTLY what happens in the aforementioned Danganronpa IF. The story takes a really interesting turn at that point, too. I doubt that the game's developers would go with the alternate route option, though.... I'm pretty sure they intended for the murder victims to remain as murder victims, as sad as it may be (after all, what's the point of the whole "despair" theme if everyone survives? ).



As far as the first game's cast being underdeveloped goes..... well, like I said before, maybe the Vita port will add more free time events for them or something.

I don't necessarily mind that not everyone made it out alive. For example, the first victim got enough development to define her character in the short time she had, in my opinion.

The problem is that Mukuro didn't even get that much until Narita's novel. We had no real idea what she was like in the game.

I think all the Mukuro scene in if are based on DR0 (like where Naegi was the first person who smiled at her). Not to mention they speak of Matsuda in if too.

I talked to some people and they said that there will be some scene with Mukuro in DR0 vol 2

Hey, so that annoying paywall over at Something Awful is finally down after about a month. And the DR2 LP has just reached the second murder! I said earlier that I would mention the LP again when it reached the next trial, but..... eh, this is close enough.



Anyway, you guys better check out those updates before the site gets blocked again soon.....

i finished the first game two days ago and loved it.

Spoiler for what i did not like about the last case trial:

what i didn't love was the scenario for why all of them were trapped in the academy and how it happened. and my suspension of disbelief flew out the window when junko said people were trying to rescue them but got shot down at the front gate. i don't see anything special about how these students can help the outside world. i can see togami helping due to his social status. the rest don't even compute. the world is drowning in despair and they need hope... really? from these kids? pshh. helicopters crashing down and whatever else is wreaking chaos in the world needs a little more than that.

Good thing I already played through the game myself, then! Went through it blind, sure, but I still enjoyed it!



But more than anything, now I'm just waiting for an announcement for the next sequel or spinoff.....

She was lying.

The outside world is under attack by terrorists led by Junko, but it's not as bad as she claims it is.

That was a lie to make them believe that whether they stay with Junko and Monobear or go outside it will be hell for them, so they fall to despair and think there is nowhere to go.

Also, you should already know that they weren't exactly trapped there. The headmaster turned the school into a shelter and the students consented to their indefinite stay there until the outside world calmed down. It just so happened that Junko usurped control from the headmaster from the outside world, so no one had any idea what happened to them.

Had the real world been as bad as Junko claimed, they would have been bombed or shot dead within a few minutes of being outside.

^Ah.... yeah, my bad. And I had even made that big spoiler warning myself at the start of the thread. Shame on me! Still, I guess this sort of stuff is inevitable when a previously niche franchise starts gaining a huge following.....



Anyways, for those that don't know, the first episode of the anime has premiered! There aren't any subs yet, though. Personally, I was pretty satisfied with the episode, overall.

YES I take 4chan to represent Western fans because I think it has a population bigger than here + MAL + ANN combined; besides, I have the feeling that people who experienced the game aren't that supportive of the anime here anyway besides a few people like marvelB etc. Meanwhile my current roommate who has never seen an anime in his life said the episode's pretty interesting when he watched the Chinese sub with me (speaking of which where's English sub? He probably would have a much easier time reading that instead ...), and that Maizono's cute but probably evil; his only complaint is that he can't memorize the names but at least he can identify them by their characteristics. He would probably keep watching it with me until he has to go back to England in a month's time or so.

Hence the conclusion in the introduction </insert this-is-why-we-can't-have-nice-things.jpg here>
Sigh, I will probably follow this series elsewhere; this is utmost disappointing because I got interested in the series here. I can't help but feel people would enjoy it a lot more if they never played the game now (kinda like nobody actually read the novel for Horizon so I don't have to deal with idiots saying how the anime team killed all Kawakami's "personal touch" during season 2).
