*facepalm* I'm honestly not sure who to blame for this.

I certainly hope he's finished most of his recording already.

Warning: long and rambling post!

About 5 years ago, I started watching One Piece. It took me 4.5 years to get through the first 10 episodes (but I did read the first 150-ish chapters, up to in Little Garden). Over the last 6 months, I've watched the other 447, catching up last week.
Impel Down had some serious pacing issues, compared to the earlier episodes, IMHO.

I've noticed that since Sabaody Archipelago and Impel Down. For the most part they have stretched episodes out for one chapter is equal to one episode. Really, I think the longest run of fillers this series has ever had was probably between the Alabasta and Jaya Arcs. I believe that was 13 episodes.
Possible between Water 7 and Thriller Bark Arcs. That was around 11 episodes. Still, it's a lot better then that Naruto 2 straight years of filler.
Between Enis Lobby and Thriller Bark, there was 11, but there were some extra episodes in the post Enis arc too. There were even 8 extra episodes within Enis Lobby.

After seeing what has happened to Bleach after long filler arcs, I am a little worried. But those also suffer from deteriorating source materials...

This week's episode sure dropped a large info bomb ^_^;;

I enjoyed the new opening, but it feels more like an ending theme personally. Fitting for the arc it started though.

Spoiler for episode for 7/18:

Well the anime sure made the big reveal quite epic indeed. Not that when the manga dropped the bomb a year ago it wasn't equally as shocking.

Luckily for you anime-only-ers this is only the first twist this arc.~

As for the new opening, the song does seem kinda more suitable for an ending, but if you're a manga-reader like me and you know what's coming, I'd say it suits the upcoming events quite well.~

Yeah i agree. Fitting music placement as well, especially during the little flashback scene with Roger talking about his child with Garp.

Will also agree that the new OP sounds more like a ED, though it's a rather fitting song along with the images shown, plus it's pretty spoiler free which is a very good thing for this arc.

I love the new opening. I agree the song is more ED material, but it still works very well.

As for the episode itself, was anyone else bothered by the fact the guy rallying the troops was a random giant instead of the John Giant, like in the manga? I wonder why they made that change.

I don't watch much of the anime these days, but I still made sure to catch the new opening. Not bad at all, I'd say. It's certainly no "We Are", but it'll do.

What!? That's blasphemy! You can never have enough John Giant, I say! I hope the anime team corrects this error by featuring more JG scenes in the coming episodes (though I highly doubt that'll happen, to be honest ).....

Check opening again at Youtube and look lyrics carefully, it fits perfectly on this arc. I really liked this new opening and I think it will grow even more over time

Liked episode too, great directing even though it was bit uneventful it was very tight aswell and kept watcher at edge of the seat, big revelation was well made at end too.

Alas, no episode for next week =(

really? I don't remember seeing any messages at the end of the episode either. Must have been written on the broadcast schedule then?

So next episode is scheduled at August 1, I am pretty upset of this because I was really getting pumped up by last episode and I am expecting alot for future episodes of this arc.

I'm not saying i don't believe what Prestige is saying, though a source is usually nice to see.

ANN doesn't seem like a good source going by their track record for these type of situations, though i'll believe it for now until something else is brought up.
