I don't really like the fact that certain characters have to be Friendshipped to make the new characters shine.

Hell I don't really like the brain washing in general.

Everything about Puk Puck is terrifying and I already miss... no, actually, **** Grim Heart too. So far these sages are all horrible, not as bad characters, but as horrible people.

Meanwhile, Pfle is the best part of the volume so far. Gotta love a good mastermind. Also, I totally understand her urge to mess with Mana

Oh, and I also like CQ quite a bit. Its nice to see a grunt with a brain and some heart, and all the thought she puts in trying to impress her new boss is both interesting and funny.

What's not to say he/she (?) is the biggest jerk of them all? The world is full of gray and cinicism already, lets just make its creator a colossal D.

That's it, if he got a peaceful death.

Imagine the 3 of them pulling a yandere on each other with FM as the only casualty.

And the reason was love, so even love was what messed them up just like PP abuses friendship.

That is also a possibility, yes. Personally, I like to think Puk Puck has always been like that due to never meeting anyone who actually disagreed with her for long, but that would requiere for her to have the same power in her original form, or at least something similar.

Don't misunderstand, though, I'm liking this volume, but the series as a whole makes you want to... say stuff sometimes.

By the way, I just thought of a mindbreaker: Puk gets hit by Pukin's rapier (the piece Pythie has, at least) at the same time miss pervert gets a glimpse of Puk. Who controls who there?

Yes, through her last piece that was meant as a memento left to Uluru.

Even if it spelled "accident" I hope Puk suffers as she realises she abused her luck and that hernluck ran out.

Spoiler for Thoughts so far: -Despite being pure setup, the first half stays an enjoyable read due to character interactions, quirks, and more insight on the mistress of friendship. -At first I thought Puk drew the biggest paralells with Grim Heart, but there might be some with how Snow used to be: a naive little child who thinks everything will be better by way of smiles and sprinkles. Just so happens her power makes it so by force. And, if no one is complaining, why think something is wrong? Basically, Puck is messed up, and I haven't forgotten Sachiko's hunch, so we probably haven't seen the worst of it. -CQ is easily the best new girl; there's just something about how she acts, being a normal person and using logic without coming out as a boring machine. Also, its hard to not sympathize with a somewhat disgruntled and unfortunate employee. -Did not see the twist with Bell coming I've kinda been spoiled on her identity already, but I don't mind since I really should've seen it beforehand (the biggest clue has been in front of us all along) and the implications could be interesting. -Cutie and Glassianne are more dead than Grace, and that's saying something. A shame, Cutie is very interesting. -Very concerned with Pfle and Fal Death flags everywhere... come on, we can't lose two recurring characters. -At least spare Mana, please...

Spoiler for Spoilers: -I actually thought Bell was Lapis I when I first saw Aces cover since she was holding the candies in the same way Lapis II hold her gems. -The biggest surprise for me in this volume was the situation being a war of sorts. -Also Shadow Gale parts are creepy.
