Knowing the inner workings of KBM staff , female fan club activism was not the reason for the male tournament, nor the reason why it continues. 2007 male tournament happened without expectation of female involvement. 2008 male tournament was tried, again as an experimentation, with hopes that international voters and other voting groups will overwhelm the fangirl clubs. 2009 -2011 male tournament kind of happened because male tournament became a habit. There are many in KBM who think female voters ruined Best Moe Tournament, and seek to find anyway to limit it. The real reason why male tournament will happen in 2012 is because there also are many female KBM staff who understandably is more interested in male tournament. If it weren't for the presence of those female KBM staff members, Male Tournament may have been discontinued by 2009 or 2010.

Most Koreans will deny this, but most of international reports rate Korea badly in gender equality ( http://wikigender.org/index.php/Gend...in_South_Korea , http://thegrandnarrative.com/2008/01...rea-and-japan/ , http://english.hani.co.kr/arti/engli...al/408104.html , http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news...202_61824.html , http://www.20-first.com/1257-0-south...ity-index.html ) . This coupled with very high standard of education Korean females have and history of organized opposition to dictatorial powers in Korea ( http://muse.jhu.edu/login?uri=/journ...24/24.1nam.pdf , http://books.google.com/books?id=eZf...0korea&f=false ) probably lead to Korean females being more organized and active in certain parts of internet world.

Lol fun.

The real question is what's more distressing? Okabe's quest in the last half of Steins;Gate or this.

So ISML decided to rule out allowing winter 2012 new characters this time then?

Yes. Winter 2012 characters are not eligible for nomination (unless they've shown up before like Louise)
